I see no reason why BBC cookery programs should not come with a health warning.
The advantages of keeping down calories are never mentioned.
There are simple truths here.
You are made up of trillions of cells and each contains telomeres and mitochondria.
Telomeres protect chromosomes.
Mitochondria are like energy batteries.
Overeating destroys these.

My age 73.
My weight 9 stones.
My BMI 20.

I have more energy than most people half my age.

Scientific research or just pure guesswork and bawaggery?

Assume you mean bawbaggery.
I have a lot of interest in evolutionary biology.
But not Richard Dawkins.
I like a real scientist such as the Nobel prizewinner Elizabeth Blackburn for her discovery of what makes telomeres that keep you healthy.
For the mitochondria you need to read another real scientist such as Nick Lane, and how one cell found its way into another a billion years ago.
Looking after your telomeres and mitochondria can't be done by stuffing food into your gut.

Btw, take no notice of Michael Mosley the BBC health guru. He's not a doctor, he's a journalist.

What a strange thread again

So no cooking programs because they make people fat

What else do we need to stop broadcasting

Have you not previously exalted " Richard Dawkins"?
It's almost like you're just making stuff up randomly.

Bet you’d swap a few BMI points for some friends.

But has got eyes of blue.
Actually my eyes are blue-grey and I'm a lot taller than 5 ft 2 in.
So what. Small people live longer. Big people have swollen cells which lead to eroded telomeres and mitochondria due to requiring more food.
Mitochondria are your primary energy source. Food is a low grade energy source required to keep you alive because you can never outrun the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics and the reason why we all die eventually.
You won't hear that on the BBC, but it's true.

I see one of the BBC's crown jewels, David Attenborough is now 97 and he was still taking planes until his last series filmed 4 years ago.
He must have loved flying because he racked up nearly 2 million miles and a massive carbon footprint.
But he was good for the Beeb's ratings!

You are absolutely right there. I do ignore fast food outlets. Just looking at them makes me feel sick.
But what right do the BBC have to try to control our eating habits?
I was brought up in austerity Britain. Diet of white bread, dripping, custard, inedible school dinners.
That's why I never became addicted to food. The BBC wants you to be.

From previous post "Do you really think that Patrick Moore is a fine example of current and more enlightened thinking and he died over a decade ago so not the most up to date example anyway."
He was a great eccentric but that doesn't mean he was not wise. A great guy sadly missed.
So by your own logic, any programs about motorsport just encourage speeding and programs about house renovations just encourage turning houses into greenhouses.
What an interesting logic. Are you related to someone on here by chance?
