Ball question!

Okay, well golf ball technology advances quickly and im pretty sure its safe to say that the current nxt tour is the same as a prov1, but probably a 2008/9 ProV1.

Is the Pinnacle similar/identical to a 3-4 year old NXT? Probably.

Is it the same as the 2011/12 NXT - I seriously doubt it, but if someone has some evidence I'll stand corrected.

happy to cut a couple in half on the bandsaw and bring them over to Westerham if you like.

the 2008 ProV had to be changed as it was a patent infringment on the Bridgestone B3300S, if my memory serves me; it's why a 'new one' got announced! maybe a year out.

any way, it's what works for you

edit - I see Valentio types faster than me!

I'm in a strange situation at the moment in that I'm noticing my golf balls get cut up on the surface, scratched and scuffed. This is not something that's been an issue before for me as I've usually lost it well before that happens!

I certainly don't consider my game to be good enough to warrant spending £40 on 12 balls that might need replaced through wear or will get lost. I'd rather spend about the same and get 3 dozen balls on an offer for that will last me longer and perform just as well for me.

The other night i was out on my own and played an NXT tour i found in my bag out of curiosity. The first iron shot i hit came fizzing back a few feet. was genuinely surprised, as i always play something premium or other. I'd happily use one again if i had to, but the main difference i noticed was that it launched so much higher than the usual pro v etc

Ill take your word for it, im no expert just would have thought if they were the 'same ball' all us golf geeks on here would know and would be playing them....

Are you near to Westerham then?

I don't think the soggy courses we're playing on at the moment are the ideal conditions for determining the best ball. What works now may be hopelessly inadequate ( although cheaper ) when the ground becomes firm.

I've been using either a zstar or pro v1 since the start of the season. I prefer the pro v1 so will probably continue using them. Not at £40 a dozen though. £19.99 a dozen for pro v1 practice balls for me.

i was a little worried the other week having a practice round on my own playing 2 balls
a srixon ad333 and a srixon lady, hole after hole the lady was going further off the tee than the ad333, im a bit concerned, anyway....

i do like a premium ball for approach shots, i feel l more confident knowing i have a bit more stopping power if i get lucky and hit the green

That's because its a softer compression than a "mans" ball. Its usually 80 compression. I also hit a Srixon Lady last week that I found while out with the dog and I was consistently 5-6 yards longer every time with a 5 iron compared to a Pro V and a Callaway brick I found.

I prefer the Bridgestone RX ,I've picked them up for £20 a dozen in the past so ten to stockpile them, another one to threw into the ring is the Bridgestone E5, my mate has played the all winter and say's he'll play with them during the season, might be worth a look mate, he plays of 3 and is a solid ball striker so they cant be that bad.

yeh i thought the lady would suit slower swing speeds hence why im worried, i thought i was an average hitter, drives normally go between 230-40 but with the lady i was more consistenly reaching 250

maybe i should bite the bullet and get my self a dozen ladies :)

I have seriously thought the same. Much cheaper balls, and I would guess, spin a crazy amount more around the green due to the compression difference. I believe the DX2 Ladies doesn't actually have "Ladies" written on the ball, so probably could get away with it!

I've noticed that quite a few people play the PG Precision because they like it, and it represents value in their eyes (pro shop purchases)

Geeks would be unaffected because -
1. they wouldn't want the NXT as the NXT Tour is sooooo much better (I think it is btw), or your need the NXT Extreme....
2. they don't buy the odd sleve at the pro shop - it's boxes all the way, and price critical purchasing

As to Westerham GC - about 10mins
