I'm scheduled to play M/W/Th/F.....4 days is enough for me. I've been avoiding medals etc on the weekends since 4 days is enough golf for me. Advantage.....quicker rounds during the week. Avoiding slower more crowded rounds on the weekend. As a low handicap....no chance of placing well on weekends anyway......

Are any of those formal competition rounds or are they social and roll ups? I'm only thinking in terms of scores on your handicap and how they are viewed if you were playing in opens elsewhere (which I know you don't do)

I don't play in any 'board comps' but I do play in a formal comp at the weekend which counts.

I'm only planning on doing a few weekend "official" rounds to keep me eligible for comps that require 3+ official rounds. Pretty well every time I play with my usual small group at Oakdale I put in a card. This week at Ripon there is an individual comp on Thurs I will play in. I'm just getting turned off by the weekend 25 handicap folks winning most of the time.....and playing slower to do so just doesn't interest me.

Surely the 25 h/cappers are in a different Div to you.

Don’t the club have divisions in medals and stablefords

Problem is.....you have to pay to play....l already pay to play. I don't really care if I "win" or not. It's just usually a slow slog on these days. Kind of like trying to drive somewhere on a Bank holiday.....just frustrating.

A prize fund needs to come from somewhere

You pay to be a member of a club

You pay to enter a competition

Without comps what's the point of managing your handicap?
Self comp. Same as I do with a lot of other things. If you are able to run a 4 min mile, why would you be happy running a 6 min mile? Unless you don't care of course. I'm trying to play as well as I can.....and at the same time HATE it when I do and my handicap comes way down. I'm not right in the head.......
