There was me a week ago with a full program of Xmas golf set up. Traditional game on Boxing Day for ownership of the bad xmas jumper trophy followed by a number of different comps at my club. Xmas is when the less common comps are held with some fourball comps and such like. Then the snow came.

Everything here is under a thick blanket of snow and with freezing temps every day (minus 4 when I got in the car this morning) there looks to be little chance of a thaw and even less chance of the clubs getting an outing.

Is everyone in the same boat or is anyone lucky enough to play at a course that it still visible under the snow?

Not a chance. When Bracknell gets onto the BBC news for anything other than the teenage pregnancy rates or the soaring crime then it must be serious and looking at the report the snow outside is serious. If the weather is that bad then I can't see a game before New Year

We're meant to be playing on the 28th at Craigielaw. It has become a bit of a tradition and in 4 years we've had a sunshiney day every time so far. I won't hold my breath this year but if anywhere will be clear it'll be down there on the coast. Actually hope it happens because I've not hit a ball there this year. Missing it a little.

I doubt I will play golf course any time soon.

Got a wee comp sorted for boxing day at Winterfield Dunbar and it will be open even if it's closed, trust me. Played there a couple of weeks back and the greens were really good. Got another comp at Royal Musselburgh but unless things improve I cant see that one going ahead.

Hows that new golf course you've been playin Andra. A wee game way John Fin and DCB Dave come the summer...if it comes.

Supposed to be playing Boxing day with my young lad and Sunday in our annual Super Swally Sunday comp, should be ok for both as its no to bad up here so far

Madandra's weather's here now. Proper "straight down" fluttery snowing as I write. Stuff you dream of as a kid. Anybody coming out to play?

Edinburgh will be closed tomorrow morning!

Just the same over the water in Fife. Lovely Christmas Card weather but no chance for Golf. Big Hill (Fairway) at 5th and 10th at Aberdour is ace for sledging though !

Looking at the weather forcast it looks like it will be getting warmer in the next few days and we have had next to no snow and non of it has set. We dont even have ice this morning so hoping for a game next Monday

Change of plan on previous post now no chance of a game am on the nightshift in Montrose and its hurtling down with the white stuff ,proper xmas card weather ,oh well i'll have to get wired into the swally instead :D

Canny see the Boxing Day 3 clubs and a putter comp being on as we had more last night and my father went past the course on the train yesterday and said it was far worse with snow that it is in Berwick,he was giving odds of 20/1 on that there would be no golf.....looks like a day on the ales then.

There are abandoned cars about 5miles to the east of me here but, at the moment, we are a little snow free oasis. Still looking okay for me and the asst to take on the head pro and another mate for a little bit of cash on Sunday.

Very little chance I think. Really gutted. :( :( :(

Was supposed to be playing Xmas eve with the guys from the gym, boxing day comp at the club. And as many rounds between then and the new year as the other half is working and I'm not.

Was soooo looking forward to it as we've missed a few weekends recently due to torrential rain and I've actually started to play some half decent golf.

Swanston is under a blanket of snow and i reckon west lothian is as well, though i've not been through that way for a couple of days. Only chance i've got for a game any time soon is a visit to east lothian, but with more snow and really low temps forecast i can't see it.

Gullane had been open last few days but is closed today. AFAIK there in now nowhere open in East Lothian. Assuming Fife is the same so looks like no more golf until after Xmas. Really looking forward to playing this week as well. :(
