You know when you haven't played a course you love for a long time and then you go to play it again; and before you play it you build it up in your mind and have high expectations?

Well today I had the absolute pleasure of going back and playing Blackmoor for the first time in a few years. All I can say is I love that place. The treble bogey after going into "The Pit" on the last which meant I shot a 10 over 79 was a bit annoying but I love it all the same
I read your first paragraph with trepidation Mike, thinking you were going to say it didn't live up to your memories.

Shame about the pit. They have cleared it out, but it is still a round killer. I managed to thin one out of there in a comp, hit the Pro shop door, and roll it back onto the course. In bounds by about a foot.:whoo:

Managed 34 points today with 2 blobs and 2 one pointers, just seemed to burn the hole on every putt, could have been a 40 pointer on another day.

Still I only managed to miss 3 fairways which is a seasons best and shows the lessons really are working.

I was careful to check the pro shop glass was protected before attempting a bunker type shot out of the heather. I needn't have worried about the glass, I only moved it about 10 ft :D

I seem to remember a forum stalwart playing out of the heather to the right of 18, finishing in a drain by the clubhouse. I would never mention Imurg's name though.

Shot net -6 with Snell in a 4BBB comp which turned into -1 as it was a weird Silloth Pairs format, happy as Larry with that.
We were paired with a father and son combo who were great company, young lad was off 10 but what a cracking player, he's got the game to go low single digits in time.

Interesting day, shot 78 in the medal and I should end up getting cut to 8 then shot 79 this afternoon in a pairs matchplay and won 4&3 giving 6&8 shots so quite a nice day.

Coombe Hill for me with Smiffy, Slasher, and Dancer. Sounds like I am playing with Santa's reindeer.:)

Still racking my brains to remember the score in the first match at Bearwood - maybe the fuzz will clear by the time I get to Kingston!!:D:D

Great match yesterday at Burnham Beeches. Coming on the back of a 6-0 drubbing at the Wisley a couple of weeks ago, we returned the favour to Burnham - but still lost three quarters of this seasons games. In our match, we went one of on 6, for one hole and again on 8 - the rest of the time it was all square and down to a putting comp on the last - I had a 10 footer for par and the match, hit it poorly, sure it had missed but somehow went in by a miracle - my "oh no" comment when I hit it was brought up in the post match speeches and cost me a fine! :( A great day with some hope of better scoring even though ball striking was still poor!

At least it was a better putt than your one on the last at Hindhead to save the match. No shots today, Craig is playing off his real handicap of 12.

Did my back in on Friday in a charity team event at Swinton Park GC but after physio yesterday morning I felt fit enough to play in vice captains day in the afternoon. A restricted swing actually helped my golf but we had to duck on the seventh tee after a shout of fore and it took me a few minutes to be able stand upright again. Managed to complete the round with 31 points but will not play again until next weekend at the earliest.
