Isn't it funny a guy asks for opinion on a club and gets told get a lesson. Always happens doesn't it someone asks advice on clubs and always get a lesson or a custom fit comes as first advice rather than just on the club.

Give it a go what you got to lose, if it helps the game and keeps you enjoying it why not. My old man has had similar bunker issues and got a Hot Blade Blaster wedge, he moves it and I have tried it and to be fair keeonthe blade square and just swing it and works every time

Nothing wrong with it, being honest often it might be the best call if the OP explains why they're after a new club. In this case, nothing but clear that it was a done deal for a new club and it was just a question of if people thought it was good or not.

Maybe those making the suggestion genuinely believe he will be better served by learning the correct technique?

Buy a man a fish and he has a meal for a day; teach a man to fish and he can feed himself for life.

I don't necessarily disagree but when post #3 is the OP stating doesn't want lessons just a view on the club, yet others continue to go on about save money and get a lesson when he's been vocal about not doing here and on other threads many times is imo just forcing a point and not actually listening to what the person is after or has said previously.

A lot of times it's default for people to say go for a lesson, get a custom fit, new clubs aren't the answer which I often agree with but it is sometimes best to just read what's been written about the desire to buy a specific club and talk about this instead of keep banging a drum that isn't really worth it in the context of the thread. Though ironically in the case of the custom fit that is often mentioned as the answer by many new clubs is exactly the answer as that's often the outcome.

Imo the best thing for the OP in this thread is to buy the new club to replace the old freebie he has and to have a lesson as well but knowing the OP previous posts it will be club only.

Funny thread.

Never used one personally. But if you find one that works, make sure you send Liverbirdie his magic Donnay back 👍

...really I just wanted to know if the Sure Out is any use when the bunkers are like that.
Yes it is - and from bunkers in any condition. And from rough and semi-rough too. Not altogether whether I'd use it from v. tight fairway, unless having to get over a hazard, though.

I know someone who used one (well, the Ben Hogan 60* version) extremely successfully - probably the club he hit best of all his!

Go for it. The 64 wouldn't be too much loft imo because the wide sole makes it play much easier than a normal wedge of that loft.

I can see it’s use for short bunker shots. But what about different length shots?
Sometimes I’ll use my 58, other times my 54 or 50, depending on shot length or type of shot (spinney fizzer or chunk & run).

Say you have a 40 yard bunker shot, would you use a 64 degree wedge for that?

The man makes an excellent point.

Love how people don't listen - he's asking if anyone else has this club and feeback of it, not if he needs to get lessons, change techniques etc.

Not often at mine that I'd have a 40 yard shot but having a 64 Sure Out has given me the confidence to play the shot a certain way and now I'd happily play any club in a bunker for whatever the distance

Depends how high the bunker face is for me. For fairway bunkers I tend to just see how the face/lip is and try and judge which club I can advance the ball the furthest while still comfortably clearing the lip. I think that's a different kettle of fish though, for this topic I was mainly looking for something for greenside bunkers.

Best advice I can give is stay out of greenside bunkers 👍🏻

The thing is. Greenside bunkers can still leave a fairly long distance to the actual pin. I regularly use anything from 9i to 60 depending on the height of the lip and the length of shot.

I'd advise you to buy the 58 rather than the 64. I have a 64 wedge and tbh it's pretty pointless. It's a fun club but far too much loft to be useful.

I've said this on another thread, but the only time it doesn't is when people ask for advice on a putter! So funny.

So basically you're saying I'm lying?

I'm intrigued to find out how being shown a good technique for hitting bunker shots would impact the rest of your game. Unless you are opening the blade and hitting 3 inches behind the ball on a normal shot then I fail to see how this could be the case.

As far as your handicap going up 3 shots well that is not possible. How you manage that i do not know. 10 x 0.1s is the max I can get. Maybe an extra shot on annual review but that's still a shot shy of 3.

Wow, no wonder people leave this forum, just because you post an opinion which differs from the common concensus your honesty is placed in question :(

I don't know why I have to justify my statement to you, but I will

Just because you only play 10 qualifiers a year doesn't make that law

Last year I played in 26 qualifiers, and as well as that there's the annual review.
