Anybody use a 2 iron??

Where's freddielong...

He would be stroking his white cat and laughing like a deranged evil lunatic after looking at this thread!

He would so love to make a comment here...

I played with Ping Eye 2 1 iron through lob wedge for several years.
Had the 2 iron regripped last year and use occasionally now into the wind.

Happy days!

Have an extensive list of 1 and 2 irons. Nearly always got one in the bag.

Love playing with them off the deck and off the tee.

Never owned or considered a hybird/rescue or a driving iron.

Would you believe it.

Yup! Old Leftie usually has a 2 iron in his bag.

Used to use it years ago when the woods weren't behaving off the tee but now it gets used once or twice a round for that off the back foot 10ft off the ground low long running punch out from under the trees. One of the few shots I can sometimes get a draw on.

I've got 2 actually. A Mizuno MP HiFli that's got a bit of meat to it. I use this in summer off the tee when the ground is rock hard and driver is too much on some holes in these conditions and if its very windy its good, you can get a nice low ball flight. I also have mp32 2 iron that came with the set, which tbh I don't tend to use on the course. Have taken it to the practice ground and hit it ok, but the Hi Fli does fine and is easier to hit.

Played with a guy couple of times last year at opens and he had an old driving iron and no driver. He hit this thing miles, almost as far as I was hitting the driver.:p

Nice one getting the 2 iron with the set - took me months to get a 2 iron mp-32. Love it though, such a beast in windy conditions.

Oi!!!!

I've only played with you once (so to speak) cue the Ooh er missus brigade, but it's very easy to go off people, you know :p

I was actually quite impressed with that low raking 2 iron draw from the heather on the 18th, keeping it under the trees, to leave a chip and 64ft cross slope putt to win the match with a par. I knew that my partner Smiffy had a short putt for a birdie ........

i used to carry a Tommy Armour 855s 2-iron. a wonderful club especially off the tee on tight par 4s. i replaced it by a callaway hybrid club after the shaft was bent. i never had the same good results with the callaway club and it eventually found its way into my "travel bag". i considered reshafting and regripping my 2-iron - maybe this summer. as to my mizuno t-zoid 1-iron i never came to grip with it. that club has gone into the stack

You invite yourself along to my place, beat your host on the last hole with another long putt, and you think i am going to go easy on you. :)
