Quite why you find it 'nice' to see one of your ex-players struggling is beyond me. I was out of the country for this game, but any great surprise in:

a) our 1st game of the season being against a top 4 side or...
b) it being away or...
c) the team losing or...
d) new young signing struggling at OT?

Still, humping Villa 6-0 a few days later felt quite nice, especially as Perch played particularly well.

How does 19th in the Championship feel anyway?

LOL! Why are they no Toon fans that can take a bit of banter? You're all very serious and defensive.

I actually wish the best for Perchy, but I was (am) still a bit bitter that he [****] off up north, so it made me a feel a bit better that we let him go. Can't be angry though, he's served us well since he was a young'un and you can't blame him for leaving for a shot at the top though. Not like Kris "Forest fan til I die" Commons who left for Derby a few years ago.

19th in the Championship is just fine ta. We were flirting with the relegation zone at the same time last season and we managed to finish 3rd...so I'm not panicking just yet.

In all seriousness, Perch will be an awesome signing for your lot. He's a very good footballer.

Assuming this is a typo and not some bizarre Midlands grammar mangling, we ('we' being Toon fans) can take banter believe me. However, banter (as Mr Stevens tells us) is all about context and you provided none. You just issued a barb about an un-related club and the performance of an ex-player of your chosen club whilst simultaneously revealing a most unappealing characteristic of schadenfreude.

You also used the words 'defensive' and 'Newcastle' (implied) in the same sentence, which clearly betrays a lack of knowledge in your subject ;)

In all seriousness, we will wait and see, but as we've managed our defence with about 3 players in the whole squad for the last 2 years, he will be a most welcome addition regardless!
