Raiders are
Not possible, they invent new ways of losing every week. This week it was Buffalo Bills legend Jordan Poyer committing an unnecessary roughness penalty on a 3rd and 9 which was always going to be incomplete which would have given the Dolphins the ball back with 1 minute and 2 timeouts left. The Bills couldn't stop the Dolphins offense all game, there was a decent chance they get into a game winning position from it. Instead the Bills get a second chance and then kick a 61 yard field goal to win the game.If anyone can sort the Dolphins out, I would be very grateful.
OC, OL and QB coaches all gone.I was asked to go on a Vegas sports radio show today where they are having a two hour rant about the whole organisation. A few years ago they brought in so-called "draft guru" Mike Mayock to be GM to go alongside Jon Gruden. Mayock proved he does not know what he is talking about just like all the other talking heads and the roster right now is a total disaster. And this week they fire their OC - like it's his fault the QBs are Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell. And there are no sure thing franchise QBs coming out next season. There could be a few more rant sessions on that show in the future.
Oh I’m absolutely in “enjoy it while it lasts” mode.It is a combination of rookie QB euphoria, not having Snyder as owner, new coaching staff mentality and a very easy schedule. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.
The remaining schedule is PIT, at PHI, DAL, TEN, at NO, PHI, ATL and at DAL. The Titans and Saints suck, Dallas are unknowns week to week but the other games are a little harder. I can see a path to 11-6 and a playoff berth which is more than most Washington fans could expect.
Right now the class of the NFC is Detroit and then Minnesota and Philly. San Francisco will be if they get healthy. Atlanta and the Rams are frisky and the Bucs need to take advantage of a ps-easy last seven games if they get healthy too.
How long did you write for FIRST DOWN? I might have read some of your stuff as I used to get it each week as it was the only decent source of NFL news before the interwebs took off. I used to look forward to it, I think it was a Thursday it came out, I remember it was towards the end of the week as I'd read it walking round my paper round in the mornings, probably from 1988 till 1994.Back in 1997 when the Bucs were in contention for the first time in 15 years, I was writing a piece for FIRST DOWN and the editor Keith Webster and I were talking about that very scenario. He asked me who I wanted to see the Bucs play in the post-season. My reply was that it had been so long, I had no idea how the playoffs even worked. Cue five minutes of hysterical laughing and a feature in the following week's issue.

Up for that - enjoyed the last oneA few years back I hosted a Zoom call where quite a few forum members joined and we talked NFL and definitely tested my knowledge on rules, strategy, salary cap and other issues. Anyone interested in doing something like that again?
You might be thinking of a monthly magazine that was imaginatively called American Football, which was in 18 parts?Blimey First Down, if that’s the magazine I am thinking about, if you saved all the editions you could put them into a booklet, which am sure Ave got somewhere
I remember when I first started watching the game on C4, I used to pop into Smiths to find a copy of USA Today to check out the sports pagesHow long did you write for FIRST DOWN? Can't legislate for a 61 yard walkoff FG, especially as he had already missed a PAT and almost missed a 2nd.Not possible, they invent new ways of losing every week. Poyer has been a terrible signing, a complete liability this year who also managed to injure Jaelan Phillips while costing the team games. He better be benched for the next game which is a prime time game against the Rams. Expecting another loss there as the Dolphins are terrible in prime time, they always have a stinker in them.

I think I have all of the editions of Quarterback somewhere as well.
