What's your weapon of choice?

3i or 3 hybrid? Does a 3i have that much a lower ball flight?

:D

Sorry, but i'm still relatively new to this and would like to make it as easy as possible for myself.

I have neither.

Into the wind, I just take an extra club that what I would need.

If it was into a cross wind and I needed to keep it low, I may just move the ball back a tad and knock it lower!

Club is important only in the distance you wish to achieve, but hitting low you can do with any club.

Ive been doing a fair amount of tinkering with my 5 iron, it can go 120 to 180 as a low punch and a little farther as a normal shot. I think three/four irons low are bloody hard to master so stick to the 5.

It depends on how far left to go, the strength of the wind and what hazards I had between the ball and the flag. I don't carry a 3 iron so would either go with a 5 wood played a tad back in my stance or maybe even a 3 wood if the wind was particularly strong.

I don't like to have a set club and evaluate each shot on its merits.

I took driver (swallowed my pride) into our Par 3, 13th, on Saturday.

It plays 202 yards, but with a 35mph headwind I teed the ball up lower, a bit further back in the stance than normal driver, and swung easy with a very arm and chest dominated swing. Ball came out low and ran onto the green.

It obviously helps if you don't have trouble in front of the green or where you want your ball to end up!! :)

Love punching my 3i, I try to keep the logo of my glove pointing towards the target for as long as I can, I move the ball back in my stance as well so that its just behind middle.

Its rare if it isn't windy at my club, and at times I have had to play 4 clubs more into the wind to reach the green.

Need to work on a punch shot but everytime I try and do as I have read or seen I make a really sweet contact and the ball flies normally - more practive needed.

The topped shot into the wind tends to go well :D

Baz, I found that for a while, I couldnt keep it down. How do you play it different to a normal shot?

Stand a bit more open, ball back in the stance, close the club face slightly, grip down the club a bit more and three quarter swing and follow through.

When I do this I always get a sweeter strike - might adopt this all the time!!

Do you put more weight on the left side? I dont close the club face, I just keep the hands waaaay forward like when I am chipping. I actually love playing the knock down shots now I can.

I played a great 5 iron that i wreckon went no higher than 30 feet but went 160 yards yesterday.
