Year sticker and a diary!
Nothing, the discounted bar prices (15%) are discounted from over-inflated prices so we still pay more than the local pubs down the road which is why we don't hang around as much as we used to!
Too many targets and bonus's for department heads to achieve which is a conflict of interest to the membership in offering us a greater service IMO
Are you at a members club or a proprietary course with a club attached ? If it's a members club then the membership needs to do something to sort out the problem at AGM time. Fair enough having targets, but bonuses (never heard of them at a members club) should only be payable upon successful completion of specific targets.
Most of the refurb and rebuilding has been completed. The shop is currently being ripped apart and redone so should be ready for your visit in Jan
Very strange for a members course for the department managers to be on bonuses, Most f&b operations in golf clubs run at break even or just making a very small amount, They need to sort it out fast if that's the case as people wont stop for meals or drinks if they are prices out of the market.Members club, I have been told many times that our secretary is on a bonus and its believed and will come to light next week if our bar & restaurant steward/manager is on one as we are having an 'Open Forum' meeting as things have got to a stage where many members are not happy and if things are not addressed and or at least listened to, there could be an exodus of members leaving next year!
Robin,The excuses I've heard first hand from the bar steward is he won't man or operate the halfway house (a bugbear of mine) as he believes it won't make money and will cost him (untested), he has told me personally he has hit all his targets in the past since joining us a few years ago and simply won't or is not interested in taking the risk. Personally I don't think its his decision alone to make and this will be raised at the forum.
If he is targeted with or without bonuses any expenditure to trial the halfway house correctly could be deferred for 12 months so he wasn't affected or it could be depreciated over a longer period so it had every chance of success, but to not give it a full opportunity because of personal targets and possible bonuses is wrong and is a conflict of interest and means the membership doesn't get something solely due to department heads who are lazy and no doubt hitting their targets far too easily!
I seem to remember you being on the range. Think you were playing the 6th or 7th at the time.:rofl:The range is all free, although it is charged as a separate (compulsory) line on the invoice - I must find out where it is located this year!
...... I even negotiated a GM forum day at Dunbar with roll and coffee and a two course meal for around £25, the forum turned it down.............
Well, apart form use of the course, clubhouse, locker room, snooker room, bar, dining room, car park, we don't get much. Reduced guest rates for up to 3 players at a time and reduced bar prices (10%) via our cashless card system and a members rate for lessons with the Pro.I suppose, the sun wind, rain, great views from the course, course wild life etc are free...
You looking for a USP Dodger![]()
One free round for a guest and can sign others on at a decent discount (not sure what that price is at the moment)
Some folks seem to be getting cracking deals from their clubs
Perhaps quality Clubs with a full membership don't need to offer perks ?![]()
