Annual Membership? Do you get anything free thrown it with it?

Robin,

Out of interest do you think the half way hut should be manned or automated, Also if manned what days should it be opened for business?

If I had it I would man it at first to gain interest every day, probably be their as early as 8am to fire it up ready for the early birds on the turn who would have started out at 7am. I would have it open until say 2pm at first and extend that if the demand was their or if I got to realise patterns and more so when societies or large sweeps were in situ. It could also be split between being manned and having an honesty box which I have seen at various clubs this year, especially Moortown. In that circumstance I would man it and set it up in the morning with cauldrons of soup and pie warmer displays, cakes etc and then come back and top up at lunch if required and then breakdown at teatime.

Either way it needs a proper commitment, not a half-hearted attempt wanting it to fail

Not much from my club.

I can sign in 3 guests at a time for half the green fee. We have a discount using our card for bar and catering, but seeing as the prices are inflated in the first instance this brings it down to a tolerable level.

Our PGA pro doesn't give "free tips and advice" as he's on quite a considerable retainer.

Unlimited guest discounts, I can take 3 others for a round at Dunbar for £12 each. I also get a members day discount that allows me to take a group of players on, say 12 guys for the same discount. I even negotiated a GM forum day at Dunbar with roll and coffee and a two course meal for around £25, the forum turned it down.............That’s another story.
Bar card discount, can’t remember how much, I think 10%. Good quality club diary, not just with club events but with dates of majors and other information, real handy.

Glad your not bitter about the forum meet Tommo;)

at the time it was felt somewhere more central was better for everyone coming, so they went for Crail.

What a let down that was!

£50 bar credit (question whether this is 'free' but that's a debate for another occasion!)

20% off in the bar/food (good for drinks but the food is ridiculously over priced and needs to change)

I asked whether the range was discounted but it isn't.

I'm thinking of changing clubs when renewal comes up in June though to be honest. Aside from being able to play golf when I want to, I don't really feel that I get much for my membership currently, and finding people to play with at the club can be somewhat difficult when not playing in competitions. Have seen a deal on another course that is irresistable if I'm reading it correctly...

That is superb getting to host a member day at guest rates. I'm sampling Dunbar in the Scramble on Friday for the 1st time :whoo:
