I am only a mere 29 years old!

I have been having problems with my iron play since last year when I bought a set of Nike Slingshot. A bad impulse buy I was greedy at the time and also wanted to upgrade my driver.

I have tried to get the Slingshots custom fitted but because they are cast and from the low budget end of clubs this cannot be done. So for the last month or so I have been looking around and trying different things out and nothing as felt right until today when I went down to AG and tried out the G15, oh & the MX 200.

I know this was in the nets but it is pushing me to go my club pro and see if I can try them out on the course.

What do other think about the G15 irons as a game improver?

I went for Pings last year (G10's). A bit ugly to look at but the improvement in 4/5/6 iron is huge.

Don't see what age has to do with it :D The G15's are simply easy to hit game improvement clubs and off 24 are probably exactly what you need. Go for it.

I'm a mere slip of a lad and I play i15's. Love them to bits. Murph will be along in a minute saying they are coffin dodgers clubs. Take no notice.
He plays Titleist blades and I took his money today.....easily
;) ;) ;)

In a word - NO. They are fantastically forgiving and easy to hit so as long as you can get over the undoubtedly chunky look. Personally I'd look at the I15's which have a slightly smaller head and aren't quite so ugly but are still easy enough to hit

Depends how well you strike the ball, if not very good the G15's will be the ones for you, if you are a solid striker of the ball then the I15's or the likes.

ive had ping since i was about 17 why think your better than what you are by buying a set of blades the number of lads that own blades and cant hit the ball i see is unreal if you can hit them get them

Just do it

But do it properly
Get yourself properly custom fitted

hit a few different options and if you are not happy, keep the wallet in the pocket

I love my G15's

Guns, when you're parting with a few £££ for new sticks, you've gotta make sure they are right for your game otherwise it can get expensive. If ping G15's are the one's for you then bag them.

Don't do it, you know it is wrong,or you wouldn't have posted this thread.

Yep, Smiffy took money today. However, it wasn't down to iron play. I only hit 5 iron shots all day, and two of those were because I was bored with not using them. Could have shot the same rubbish score taking a pencil bag with 4 clubs in it. Driver (dubious), hybrid, 50 wedge, putter. Didn't use the rest.

Back to Ping. Yes, G15s are forgiving GI clubs, but there are others out there too, which are worth a look. If you rushed into your slingshots, why make the same mistake. Take your time and get it right. (give it long enough, you might be old enough for the Pings).

The responses make me laugh, I must say only the over 50's carry Ping at my club and thats why I ask the question.

I have been looking for just over a month now, and I have hit a few irons Cobra SZ's TM Burners(there are too many types) AP1's new & old, I15's Nike VR, MX100 & MX200.

I am attracted to either Mizuno or Ping because of the custom fit.

I am still excited about the feel of the G15's now but thank you guys for all your feed back. I am going to see if I can try them on grass before I jump in 2 footed, I will keep you posted.

Looking at what you currently have and your handicap, are you sure your driver, wood and hybrid are for you? They are aimed at someone who can consistently hit it out the middle every single time. Not saying that because of your handicap you are a hacker but i am saying that investing in suitable woods would be better than irons

I had the MX200's for a year, and have just switched to the Pings. The 200's were ok but I have to say that the i15's do inspire a lot more confidence at address than the Mizunos did. OK you've still got to hit them, (something I wasn't doing particularly well yesterday if I'm honest but that was me, not the clubs).
I'm over 50 by the way, eligible to play in the seniors next year. Playing old mans clubs doesn't really bother me.
;)
