Played with Imurg today and mullered him again 38 - 29, although to be fair he wasnt playing well
anyway certain Bandito type noises emanated from said Imurg. So I thought I would let the Forum have their view

Here are the facts

Handicap 22.9, CSS 69, par 70

My last 5 rounds have been 91, 91, 91, 96 (Very Very Windy) , 91
scoring 38,38,38.33.38 points respectively
My last 4 Comp rounds (Sept to Nov 2011) were 97, 97, 99, 97

today, I had 1 birdie, 7 pars, 5 net pars, 3 net bogeys 2 blobs, playing out of my skin most of the time .but with a couple of bad holes

Scoresaver 2 would have cut me .4 on each of the 91 rounds, the 96 round is bang on buffer unless CSS changed because of the wind.

Clearly I have improved over the winter and clearly I am playing better than my handicap by about 1.6 (say 2 shots), Im entering the first Comp on Wednesday 14th so hopefully the handicap can start to adjust.

But Does that make me a bandit or is it just Imurg winding me up again

What nice steady scoring! He's winding u up, once the comps start ur handicap will reduce! Enjoy the extra shots while u can ;)

Nah..........I wouldnt call anybody shooting 38 points a Bandit, but good consistent scoring by the way

Proper Comps, Qualifiers, will tell u youre True Level

Good Luck next Wednesday

Ps fragger, make sure you wind him right up too

He certainly wasnt a happy bunny today, but we wont mention the Sergio style club chucker moment on the 12th as thats not good form ( he still parred that hole)

Im very happy with where my golf is at the moment and if I can get rid of a few silly mistakes it can go even better

Fragger

Not a bandit but definitely improved so will should get you a decent cut or two in the first few rounds comps you play.

p.s. has he suggested playing off 3/4 handicap yet?

I reserve the right to call you a bandit if you beat me on the 14th!

Good steady golf though, well done on another win. whats that now? 2 in a row?

I make it 5 in a row , but it's not that I've beaten him ,as such
He having a bit of a sticky patch at the moment, it's still there, just in hibernation

tell us more about the club chucking par save! :one:

It was a classic 125 yard par3 his iron from the mat was a bit of a slap and ended about 3 yards short of the front of the green, about 20 feet from the pin.
He putted his second shot , but hit the ground first, the putter went cartwheeling big time,

The funny thing was that it ended ok , leaving him a 4 footer for par which was despatched.
Oh I parred it as well , but my par was worth 3 points to his 2

A shite 8 iron short of the green
A shite chip that hit ground first then ball that miraculously somehow managed to get to 3 feet
Knocked it in.

Gap Wedge went on a journey after the chip - just frustration.
Confidence is low
Ball striking is shite
Putting was - well lets leave it there.........Feel honoured to have scored 29 - Miracle.

Solid stuff from Fragger though. 21 out, 17 back. Should really have been over 40 points. A pull into the trees on 11 and several hacks from the rough saw a blob, a Sherman (almost) on 17 and a screwed up 18 - should have been 42 easily.

Hence the Bandit expressions.

If he messes up next wednesday he's in serious trouble.....

There always seems to be a some sort of bandit thread on this forum. I have never experienced this because up until now I have only played with mates in social games, that at the end of the day only want to play golf and beating each other isn't overly important. Personally if I see my mates playing well it makes the round better if my round isn't especially going my way. It seems to me that bandit gets thrown about a lot, (more than likely in jest) but is this a real issue once you start playing in medals etc. Do people seriously dodge handicap cuts in an effort just to win competitions? I would take it as a compliment that I am/have played especially well.

On a side note I am aiming to join a club this year and get involved in competitive golf but will be moving house within the in the next few months, so am holding off. Hopefully I will be known as the Mexican when I finally join a club

Within the Club - probably not although there may be some who manufacture things a little.
The place to find real Bandits is the National Comps and Opens where there are decent prizes up for grabs.
Having a few extra shots to play with can be very lucrative......

i know what you were feeling with that par 3. wee card wreaker hole where no good can come of it unless you stitch the approach. our 8th hole can be like that at times.

I try not to view life too cynically but can imagine that a few people would. I suppose you find them in all walks of life.
