Am I Really A Bandit

Sorry Fragger

Great play but......
38 points with 2 blobs?
How about the other rounds, did they have blobs as well?

Bob, the 33 in the wind was blob free ( my second ever blob free round)
The other rounds had 1 or 2 blobs

I can see what you are saying , and that's why I commented that I need to cut out the odd silly mistake which is costing me dear, there is no doubt that if I get it right I would be playing to 40 points standard, maybe a couple more .

This would put me at under 18 and certainly I'm on the verge of a chunky reduction
Just not quite there yet

Competition tees or forward pots?

At my 1st club a group used to do their own roll up on the non comp day and played off 3/4 handicaps of the yellows (regardless of the sss), playing off 3/4 when off yellows seemed to help them for the comps too.

Edit: As the trouble should have been designed for use of the comp tees it's amazing how much easier yellow pots and especially winter tees (my old club had them unfortunately) can make the game.

Same at our place.
Only 80 yards between Yellows and Whites. SSS is the same.
Only differences are mats on the par 3's, little run and soft greens...

That's a good effort then as it's a pretty small difference for winter especially with our temperatures and weather conditions, sounds like he's just got to do it in the comps.

How does your course hold up in winter, good enough for qualifiers? I'm amazed how many places have them as I odn't know of any local club to me holding them.

I really racks me off that we stop qualifiers early December and don't restart until Mid-March. Sure, if the course is frozen or like a quagmire then don't run the comp, but for the most part this Winter it's perfectly playable.

Shouldn't the all-conquering CSS account for the slightly higher scores expected during slightly worse weather..?

i always find people with high handicaps seem to play well and score well when its stableford....when you think that you will be getting 2 strokes on a few holes it makes a huge difference.

Isn't there only so much distance you can lose overall or holes been different and still run a qualifier? I'm sure there used to be something like that and where I was we lost too much yardage and even had to be careful in summer where tee pots were placed.

I think it's 100 yards.
We have SSS for both Yellow and White tees so it isn't an issue. All the mats on the par 3's are placed where the normal tee markers would be.
I did ask why we stopped - the answer?
Because we always have......

Well played bud,ultra consistent.
Your scores certainly show the difference when its a comp and a card is in
your hand.
Hopefully you will be able to turn your good form into a cut.
Of course real golf is a medal.[smiley]
Havnt found out how to use smileys yet.

Yep Wull, I agree
Stableford format brings a different mental attitude to some compared to when playing Stroke Medal Comp
Ive some mates, that love the idea of 1 or 2 bad holes not being card wreckers, cos for sure 2 blobs, sure beats 2 x 7s, 8s, or 9s in Strokeplay......which guarantees a LIFT, whereas the 2 Blobs mean they may even still get a CUT
