Hello, we have started an unofficial society with work colleagues and are sorting out the handicaps. Unfortunately the 28 cap gets in the way of us evening out the players at the moment (who knows maybe we'll get better....) so we cant use any of the standard tools to calculate and adjust the handicap....
I had done bit of research on how to calculate the initial handicap...ie calculate their adjusted score as score (capped at +2 each hole) less the SSS....averaged over 3 rounds.
The problem then came when attempting to adjust these with so many >28 handicappers.
for example, we have a guy playing off 31. He played last week and his adjusted score was 29. lot of holes getting capped at +2 but a few more bogeys than normal. In this case it seems that his handicap should be reduced by 1 stroke (2x0.5).
However, he only scored 30 points off the 31 hanidcap which would imply that his handicap should increase by 0.1???
Any idea what should happen in this case???
Thanks
J
