I agree. the rate that clubs are released these days means it pays to hold off a while and pick them up 2nd hand or on sale.

Doesn't surprise me at all - also TM being brought into it doesn't surprise me also

Also aren't Adams owned by TM anyway

Yup, interesting how when TM were named #1 driver there was lots of skepticism about players being played etc, yet no real mention of it with Adams, despite being the same company. Without dragging it into another TM thread.

Not surprised that they're #1 though. Good looking (and apparently performing) clubs and would guess Adams picks up a lot of Mizuno/Callaway iron sponsored players, as well as those with TM and people with no single sponsor.

Really like the new rebranding of the company as well

Adams have gone from strength to strength, before the acquisition by TMAG they were the best kept secret in the pro shop (even if your pro shop had any in!)

They have been very UN-TMAG in their marketing claims, advertising etc. Very clever from TMAG. Also i believe the R&D is shared to a degree now, so the tech that made Adams so good at hybrids especially pre TMAG is filtering through to TM, just look at the first RBZ fairway wood, by far the best fairway made by TM for a long time.

If i were in the market for a hybrid right now, Adams would be top of my list to try first.

The Adams hybrids are expensive, but I would not feel the need to buy new ones every season or 1/2 season ... I think I can quite safely say that mine will go when they are well and truly cream crackered, like my irons, the 5 wood and putter.. My driver well I may have my head turned by something else I cannot deny I am fickle that way (but right now it's my swing that is being overhauled!!)

The way I read Homer's post it wasn't a TM bash. It was highlighting that TM seem to have more Tour Staff so therefore not unreasonable to assume they would use TM hybrids rather than Adams. Wouldn't you expect Callaway players to use Callaway hybrids and Titleist players to use Titleist ....??
In that respect, with Adams having so few Tour Staff, it is quite surprising they are No.1.........

I'll be the first to say it - why do they have to gouge a bloomin' great trough out of the crown..?
The basic shape and look is great but someone's taken a chisel to it.
I don't like the look from the top.....

Really not that noticeable in all honesty, particularly as the slot is very narrow on mine and perhaps because the clubhead is white.

I agree it's somewhat more 'intrusive' on certain models such as the new Tight Lies, albeit I think it may help with alignment.

No because I would guess, and I may be wrong, that Mizuno in particular would do more iron only deals than other manufacturers. Also, Callaway's brand marketing is almost solely focused on Drivers, Woods and Irons - although they do a bit, the marketing for their hybrids is nowhere near the same level.

I purposely excluded Titleist from my comment as their players all seem to have full bag deals - or at least choose to play their hybrids too if not.

Taylormade have not marketed their rescues nearly as much as their woods and irons over the last couple of years, which could be to do with allowing Adams to dominate that market. It wouldn't surprise me if they also allowed (encouraged) staff players to pick up Adam's hybrids.

Having both the #1 Driver and the #1 hybrid is far more beneficial for TM/Adidas as it sures up Adam's place in the market. TM could have totally flooded the industry with hybrid marketing and paid out mega money for people to use their hybrids instead but this way they end up with two brands dominating areas, rather than one. That way, if either TM or Adams were to take a hit, they're still gonna be #1 somewhere.

Of course this is all pure speculation.

Still puzzles me why so few people have the Adams drivers. I love my Super S Speedline.

Well I am off in an hour to see how this new XTD goes. (put my usual shaft in it - black Tie 7m3 and also have the stock red tie to try)

I have gone with this driver mainly due to the performance of my super 9031 and tight lies tour.
