A Riddle.

The only important thing about baseball caps - or indeed any cap - is that it must be removed before entering the clubhouse lounge or bar. Absolutely bad lack and bad form for a gent to wear a hat or cap indoors in such a social setting.
They should also be removed when shaking hands at the end of the round.

Of course - remiss of me to fail to mention that.

Wonder if the tradition comes from the fact that military personal do not wear head cover indoors unless they are under arms. So if you wear a hat you imply your are armed - and you shouldn't bear arms in a golf clubhouse. Plenty of military on here to correct my misconceptions.

That said, old-fashioned me says it's rude for anyone to wear your head cover indoors

Never had an issue with baseball caps except for some oiks trying to wear them indoors. With my lack of hair these day its essential kit to keep the sun off my head. Ideal as a speccy too in all the rain we've had

Some of us have more of a need for one... Personally I prefer a flat cap though.. But I'm effortlessly cool apparently..

Would agree with this, except for the fact that the Sun appears to be about as frequent a visitor to these shores as Sean Connery...

Just aswell.

With the flat cap and the sun you'd be going for the Stewart Cink look

To be fair, I'm not far behind.....

Tend to wear a cap only if its really sunny to cover my (expanding) monk-top :mmm:

Where a visor if it's raining but don't like wearing hats

There are good reasons not to wear a hat indoors but I hope you're not suggested superstition is one of them!

Wearing a hat indoors will bring on a headache (superstition) and in a previous club a a jocular threat that the wearer would have to buy everyone a drink if headgear was not removed without delay :)
