I’ve been at Royal Musselburgh for a few years now and on the whole it’s a great club and a super golf course. However, a week past Saturday it was club championship Q day, summer meeting, for the main championship. Now, a friend of the family, scored reasonably well with a 74 scratch, better than some of the really low guys. Now it turns out he’s not been allowed to play the second Q round because he’s already Qd for the senior’s championship…..that was played few weeks earlier.

IMO The main club championship, the champion golfer, should always take priority over anything else, and,……because the senior Q round is played before the main championship qualifiers why should this possibly exempt this guy from the main event. Even two or three juniors, who don’t pay the full fees, qualified for the main championship….something I’m in favour of.

At my other club I’ve qualified for both seniors and the main club championships….whats the case at your club?

At both clubs i have been a member there has been scope to do both.

One week the have the Seniors Matchplay and the next is the main championship. Finals are all on the same day but they would change the date of the seniors if need be.

My other club matchplay was on alternate nights so you could play both. My dad had to do this and lost in Semi of the main comp and the final of the Seniors. He was knackered by the end of the week. Finals were also on the same day but they would again move the seniors

Its a poor show by your club tbh.

Anyone shooting 74 gross deserves a chance to play for the big prize regardless of age. You can play both at our place.
