No, not the ones that are being used in these horrific shootings, I do not. As far as I am aware the vast majority of us shootings are not being done by the criminal underworld, but by people with, many would argue, frighteningly easy access to guns that can slay lots of people very quickly.

Thats a very naive consideration. Just reflect on the Paris attacks, there are more kalishnakofps in this World that you can shake a stick at.

We are not talking about coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris, as I expect terrorists organisations do have easy access to these types of guns, it's kind of in the job description. We are talking about the ever increasing number of mass shootings in the US perpetrated by lone gunmen who have easy access to assault weapons.

For starters, the government have said it isn't true.

May and Hammond have hit back at the claims saying the published exerts were "selectively leaked quotes" that had been used "to give a completely false impression that the UK is considering granting visa liberalisation to some Turkish citizens".

But putting that aside, as you know sometimes governments lie to protect their own interests, the actual supposed leaked memo states the agreement applies only to countries which are members of the Schengen common visa area: i.e. Turks will still require visas for the UK, but we 'may' extend it and possibly allow the same privilege to 1.5 million special passport holders, i.e. those that would have got in anyway via the visa application process. There are so many what, ifs and maybes in that it's really an odd thing to be making a decision on.

I won't say anymore on it in this thread as it really isn't the place. Still not sure why you bought it up. You could always have a read of this to soften some of your concerns on Turkey though.

But the earlier post was highlighting the bigoted mainstream media coverage that this tragic attack got in a country that we, and the other EU member states, seem to be pandering to and welcoming as future EU members. What sort of Union will that bring upon us.

Thats the reason why, in my view, it was a valid post to this thread.
