4bbb handicapping system

then why use it ? it would seem that the unified handicapping system is anything but if rogue elements and the county associations are free to implement unapproved systems of handicapping whenever they wish ,ignoring the home clubs recommendations re handicaps.

it would be really good if you told the whole story of what went on rather than trying to get support for what you perceive to be harsh treatment!

Wouldn't we all. But we shouldn't be getting into making assumptions about "rogue elements"and a county association etc. We know rulefan is looking into to it. Best to let it be.

sorry dont agree at all, op came on an open forum and has continually told parts of a story to try and get support for his position whilst another forumite has then become involved in trying to "sort" the issue

think everyone else has every right to ask to know the whole facts of the story

Now that the situation has come to light and on the face of it, is potentially a serious issue, the correct process is for the complainant to complain formally to the county.
I am working 'off line' trying to find what foundation there is and just what my associates in EG know about it.
This will possibly turn into a formal matter solely for the complainant, any players involved, the county and England Golf.
The outcome of such matters are not published outside those parties.
I will not be posting anything further re this topic on this board.
I will keep in touch with gazzadi privately.

so now its potentially serious we should try and make sure as few people as possible know what happened! would you like a larger piece of carpet to sweep it under?

I appreciate your position rulefan but there are always the cry of cheat on individuals on the site and there have been instances where club officials blatantly do what they want and not what the rule book says should happen, if this is now spreading to those that think they know better at County level then it is time for the EG and county officials to publish what misdemeanours are occurring and what actions are being taken.

After all, although they don't like to accept it, many are payed employees of those who pay their affiliation subs, us.

At this stage publishing anything that is not substantiated is fraught with all sorts of legal problems. Although disciplinary action may not result in legal action, widespread publicity may.
The EG (and especially the counties) cannot afford to get involved in potential litigation.
Incidentally, virtually all county officials are volunteers. There are a few County Secretaries who are paid an honorarium and one or two who are paid employees. But they are not involved in handicap disputes. That's what the County and Regional Handicap Advisers (who are all volunteers) are there for.

Fully understand the legality of accusing individuals on an open forum and not sure anyone has asked for this. The main areas are.

Is what the club doing sanctioned or are they acting independent of CONGU.

What are the county doing .

I cannot see what legal issues arise from that.

the only issue discussed is whether it is right to introduce a handicapping system that is outside the congu uhs for golfers rather than a unified system that protects all golfers under the one system as the congu uhs was designed for.if it is allowed to make up rogue systems of handicapping then we ,as golfers should be made aware of it if we play betterball competitions and it needs to be made public knowledge that this is a possible outcome of betterball success. there is no 'story' to tell,it has happened and you ave borne witness to it,you have seen the method employed by Lancashire and please feel free to discuss the issue . this is not about individuals or gossip and i think rulefan understands this.

The suspension of handicaps by Lancashire is not gossip though.

Also, I am unable to view the attachment as it's upside down.

the reason that this forum [and others] have usernames is so that individuals can post information for the good of the community anonymously .try to stick with the issues raised and not get dragged down with assumptions that may be unfounded.

The method used to determine the player's reduction was, I am told, not published by Lancashire. It may or may not have been considered by Lancs but I do know a lot of consideration went into the decisions. The picture shown above is a private spread sheet designed by a consultant statistician to EG. I don't know where or how it was obtained but it was, I am told, not officially released.

That particular method/formula is just one of the many ideas being thought about for 4BBBs when the WHS arrives.
