so no character holes? high tees? etc

I disagree with Phil when he says the Arden only has 8 decent holes. It’s a really nice track and a good test. The back nine is particularly nice.

A course doesn’t need raised tees to impress, and I’ve never failed to enjoy my golf when playing it. Ultimately it’s resort golf, but it’s one of the better ones I’ve played and is available at a reasonable price.

As I say, I haven’t played the Aylesford so can’t comment.

I’ve played the Arden a number of times - nice track. Not played the Aylesford but it looks okay.

I tend to agree with Phil, though - for a £350 budget you can perhaps do better.

You're not missing anything. Aylesford is a £20 course. Some nice holes on the Arden but they can playa lot better for £350.

Another vote for East Sussex National, it's a lovely set-up. It can suffer a bit in the winter as its built on clay, but they have spent a great deal of money and time over the years to improve the drainage. The West course is probably my all time favourite course that I have played.
