3 putt par

I've driven a 260 yd green a number of times....and four putted..for a 5.

Does it get much worse than that, chance for an eagle and walking off with bogey?

Unless you're playing a bogey comp, an extra putt just adds 1 to your end total regardless of whether it's for birdie, par, bogey or a 12.

Any other thoughts than that are uneccessary.

IMO.

If it was me Bob then yes I would.

I agree completely that trying too hard can be bad for your game (and your blood pressure) but I think if you are content with 3 putts because it's still a par that would limit how low you could go.
I'm sure if it was a par 3 you would be unhappy walking off with a 4 having driven the green.

What are these strange words " driving a par 4 green"..?
Haven't done it for years.......
And if you offer me a par on the tee of every hole I'll bite your hand off!

Ok, for the coffin dodgers..............;)
You're playing a 450yrd hole uphill against the wind
Great drive, great 3 wood still 30 yards short
Pitch on and 2 putt
Are you happy with your 5 or would it depend on what the par was?

We have a hole just like that Bob...
4 is a fantastic result, 5 is good.
Offer me a 5 and I'll probably take it as I'll still be a shot better than most.

Not happy as it means 3 putts but it depends a lot on how close I am.
3 putts from 35 yards isn't a disaster.
And anyway, a 240 yard par 3 is really a short par 4..

I heard of one forum member playing the par 4, 10th at Blackmoor (a long beast of a hole), on in 2 and then 5 putted - I think it's about as likely as the Loch Ness monster being found in bed with the Yeti but some do say it happened!
