On the back of the enormous fun and debate we've had and now that a lot of us are starting to go to winter mats, temps (god forbid not yet I hope) and for some mats for every shot, time to start the virtual round off.

The first at my course is 229 yards, par 3 (SI 10) off the whites with OB right and a pond about 70 yards short and left. Bunkers left and right of the green and a line of trees that encroach from the right about 40 yards short and right which will snare anything pushed/faded. It is a crisp winters morning, blue sky, dry but with a heavy dew. We're first out so no problems with slow play and the green has just been mowed. I've pegged upa new Bridgestone 330 RXS and have my trust three wood in hand. I've been on the practice ground and feeling good.

I tee it up, get ready and we're off. Its a good contact but pushed. It's cleared the line of trees and is level with the green but there is a bunker between the ball and the flag and we're on a downhill lie...

Right then are we playing a 4ball at your course then?
If so then
Out with the 5wood and a new Srixon ad333, a gentle swing and it lands 20yds short and runs 5yds.

I know this shot - played it last time I was there.

Standard splash from the bunker, keeping the speed of the club going.
Nice "divot" of sand, up flies the ball - 2 bounces and it's rolling towards the cup.

But it's a little firm and it rattle the flag and stops 6 inches away..

Bugger

Who wants a tap-in?

I'll take the tap in. Mark and clean ball. Check the green no dodgy slopes. Tap away the bogey and ready to head back to me trolley.

do i tee off my 2nd now or does homer tee off his 2nd? sorry still learning the rules:o

Ok so my 2nd is along the cliff top 467 par 4 from the whites. OOB iver the cliffs on right. A fairway bunker 234 on the left side. Slightly up hill then down after 270. Bunker either side of the green. Today we got a medium wind from the sea.

Tee peg in and look at me shot. Goin to aim slightly right so wind won't push me into bunker. Driver in hand big swing and jus carries the bunker but landed slightly in rough. See 3/4 of the ball but it reasonable lie and we got 224 to the green

60 yards...yum  after the recent dose of shermans I can feel a cold sweat breaking out already.

Pull out the sand wedge and put a nice easy 3/4 swing on it... nip it sweet as a nut. It covers the flag all the way but just always looks a wee bit big.
Lands next to the pin and takes one bounce and stops 12 feet beyond the pin leaving a tricky putt down the hill, breaking left to right.....

Walks toward green trying to read the break on the putt, looks tricky, maybe 6inch of break.
Picks and cleans ball has another look from behind.

Scotty has been behaving lately and confidence is high, ball is replaced and takes stance, looks at ball and looks at hole.

Oh oh, thinks about the bad start to the round +1, don't want to drop another shot here, feeling a bit of pressure.

Gives head a shake, makes a stroke at ball, good line, good pace, its tracking ...........its .....its...IN.

Great par save, big fist pump.:D

3rd Hole, 374 off the whites, slight dogleg left. OOB to the left, deep cabbage to the right.
Bunkers left and right of fairway. left bunker 230 to clear. right bunker in play at 255 yards.
Wind slightly of the right.

z-star teed up on a pink castle tee, stands back and takes a practice swing, feels good.
Looks for an aimpoint, takes stance and checks alignment, everythings set. lets rock.

Takes smooth backswing, nothing rushed. Good tempo and rips at it. whack!

Oh oh, didn't feel right, thinks caught it on heel.

Low ball flight, right to left shape, heading for left bunker. pheww comes up short of bunker.

Rolls out to 225 yards, 145y ish to the middle of green.

Green is protected by bunkers left and right front of green, slopes from back to front, Pin 5 yards on at front.

sc confirms it as 144 to middle steady 8 iron it is then, practice swish

set up to play to heart of the green, oh no slightly heavy contact and tugged it left on the wing heading straight for the bunker!!

splash its in the sand......
