£1100 budget, what to buy?

ok, i think you have enough for everything you want and I sure as hell would not drop £300 on a driver. I will do this as if it were me. Remember I am a higher handicap than you but I will try and do it as if i were you.

(at this point I see this is harder than I thought)

TaylorMade R9 Driver - £149.99
TaylorMade Burner SuperFast Fairway Wood - £124.95
TaylorMade Burner Superfast Rescue Wood - £104.95 (19* IMO)
Mizuno Golf MX-1000 Irons Steel 4-PW - £399.99
Cleveland Golf CG15 Oil-Quench Wedge X2 - £145 (for 2 wedges)(52* & 56* IMO)
Ping Answer In V2 Putter - £95

This leaves £81 for the bag, I saw a Willson trolly bag in AG the other night for £61

£20 for balls.

now the hard part for me is Irons, I have no idea what you like and it would be EASY to spend more than £400 on irons, but this can be done, though alot harder than I expected. You only have one Hybird and 2 wedges.

I would guess that this is the first and last time I will tell you not to do what bob says, for gods sake do not spend your club money on the Mrs!!!! PLEASE!!!!

Ah but....
Golf money spent on HID is worth double brownie points.
What's the use of all that new gear if she wont let you out to play?

Are you old enough for Ping yet?
If so, you can do a lot worse than this lot

Now, what can you spend the last £19.99 on :D :D :D

I believe the V-Easy is a great bit of kit but I think they cost ALOT more than that for such a vital bit of golf kit?

:p

I believe you should compromise less in the clubs you will use most often. As a result my first purchases were my wedges and my putter. If I were you I'd buy my wedges and putter, or at least decide on them. Then for me it depends on how you play. If you batter courses into submission with a Driver and wedge, budget for a big stick, if not then think about what irons you want. You might want to consider the MD superstrong woods and hybrids, which have a lot of fans on here.

From my own experience I would say that my Scotty and Irons were by far my two best purchases. And if you can find one for £80 the Nike Sasquatch is a great bag.

Happy shopping.

I'm sorry but anyone who goes out and buys new kit off the shelf at full price needs a head exam when there is so much good quality stuff available second hand. Why not let someone elses mistake grace your bag as I have done. Yes I can afford new but there is an abundance of virtually new gear on the second hand shelves of every store in the country. Get some and save a fortune. If you fancy R9's someone will have done the same and decided after 5 rounds they are not for them and traded them.Once second hand you are looking at a couple of hundred saving.

Fully agree, my irons were 4 months old and had been traded in by a "regular customer". I paid £180 less than the new price.

Hi all

Went for my CF today, tried the R9 drivers and was fighting too much of a draw and lack of distance. Ended up buying R9TP irons 3-pw (£$%&*!^ beautiful!) Superfast burner 2010 9.5* stiff and bought matching 3 wood, 3 hybrid 3 vokeys 52* 56* 60*, Scotty Fastback 1.56 and a Titleist cart bag for only £10 over budget and even got them to throw me in a dozen Pro V1s. Happy days!!!!
