What is the most difficult handicap to have?

Lots of interesting thoughts. I certainly agree that much of the worry is simply that and that just going out and playing should be the key. I think being cut a couple of shots was a shock to the system and that I need to convince myself that I can keep improving.... I still think, however...

What is the most difficult handicap to have?

Hi When I played off 16 - I knew that I would blow up on some holes and that I'd probably make a few pars to recover. After a really good round or two earlier in the year, I now play off 12. Much more difficult! Now I feel that I have to be on my game to score well and that I can't be too...

The Championship is over for another year...........

Our Club Championship: Nett and scratch played as one medal over 36 holes. Memorable for me because Rd 1 included an 11 on our par 5 12th (playing partners both carded 8s) - nett 75 (four over) Rd 2 included a 7 on the par 3 2nd, where I called a two shot penalty on myself after hitting my own...

callaway ft -IQ or ft-I thoughts please

Partly tempted by the price and rock solid in a test, I have just bought the FT-iq. Very pleased with it so far. I had the FT-5 and found that I had good length but hit it rather high. I am still experimenting with getting the set up at address spot on - but the FT-iq is the straightest driver...

Another driver loft thread - but intersting findings.

I get a little lost in the science - but I have just changed my driver and I think I have finally found the right one. They are so fickle that I agree with many of the posts that you have to find the right shaft, loft and head shape etc etc before you find one that suits. Top players will be...

    custom fitting

Callaway are doing a short game fitting session at our club tomorrow. I'm going along - I think it will be wedges and putters. Hope they don't charge!

Is a GPS device going against the spirit of golf.

I don't think it's against the spirit of the game. For me, it's like having a caddy. I find it really useful when playing courses that I don't know - or when I have no line of sight to the green. Most crucially, I stand over shots from 150 to 90 yards with much more confidence now. Is it...

    Wood or Rescue

Currently carrying a 21 degree hybrid instead of a 5 wood. My 5 wood is longer but I am opting for slightly more accuracy with the hybrid. I'm hitting it about 200 yds and I carry a 4 iron which is 185 - 190.

    Embarrassed after win

On reflection, I think the fact that I had been about six times before and it had always been done differently (one prize per pair) was what shocked me. I went to make my "Thank you " speech and said, "I'd like to say a few thank you's" and someone murmured, "Yeah, the handicap committee!"...

    Back garden

I chip with different wedges and I have about 20 yards to play in. This is also the area/length I struggle with so it's useful. No nets, mats or air balls - but I'm now tempted to get a chipping net/tent. Any I should be looking out for as good quality? Chipping net rather tahn full on - I...

    Embarrassed after win

My partner and I won an Open Comp at the weekend. We both played really well and won the morning fourball better ball and then the afternoon greensomes. In the past, this event has only allowed pairs to win one prize - we thought we'd get the overall winners trophy. We were more than...

    How many sets ?

    2. One set in France so I don't waste boot space every time I travel. (Go to France twice a year)

    Sky Caddie

I have basic 2.5. More than enough info - very accurate and works well. Only downside is annual fee. Really useful when playing an unfamiliar course.

    Bi-Polar Scoring

Ummm. Managed to extend bipolarism to fit into one round. 46 front nine = 11 over gross (15pts) 37 back nine = 1 over gross (24pts) I think there's a really good round waiting to happen....

    Bunker problems - big ones

I went in 4 bunkers on Sunday and I only got out of one of them first time (skinned it miles over the green). I read this thread with interest. Last year, with similar problems, I had a lesson and my pro told me I was flexing my knees - but too much, opening the blade - but too open, hitting...
