you're most feared shot?

Near-side shot from the fringe. Cant seem to get the touch right. Either dont commit ( and fluff) or over-hit

Santa is getting me a couple of short-game lessons for the off-season

First tee shot of the day! At Rochford its a benign par 4, OB some way off to the right, and bunkers on the left at 100yds from the tee. I sometimes fail to drag my opening salvo into the bunkers because I have topped the ball a miserable 50 yards. I'm versatile - sometimes I combine the misfires by topping and dragging in the same swing. Switching down to a 3 wood, or even 2 hybrid makes no difference (only to the length of the topped ones!). The one and only time I creamed one off the tee, the wind carried the ball OB. Never played the hole in under 7. It doesn't matter if I fall out of the car onto the tee, or spend a good half hour grooving my swing, it always happens. I'm just resigned to it now.

I've seemed to have developed a particularly good trick shot and seem to have a lot of double hits out of greenside bunkers lately usually putting the ball back into the sand again. Not sure why

Anyone got any ideas how to stop this?

Is it a double hit in that you're decelerating through the sand? Without seeing it happen I'd suggest that may be the case and the club is not travelling ahead of the ball after going through the sand?

Equally, I may be talking utter bobbins!

I don't fear any shot but I'm not as proficient as I should be a greenside bunkers. I don't fear them but I know my chances of getting up and down reduce dramatically so those are the ones I most want to avoid.

Dont hit into bunkers ? ;)
Hit the sand/ball harder?

Didn't enjoy this too much! It's hard to tell but I'm right at the top of a steep face!

For me its,
* Greenside bunkers with lots of green infront to play with (I always leave it well short of the flag)
* Bare lies when chipping onto the green.
* Off the tee with out of bounds left and right
* Anything longer than 150 yds to the green with water to carry.
* Downhill lies.

Thats enough analysis of my last round but im still haunted by it.

Firstly I am not trying to give you advice as I am not a pro but I cautiously purchased "
Secrets of the short game" by Phil Mickleson and I have top say it was abreath of fresh air!

I don't usually buy into these dvd's but somebody recommended this one too me saying it would improve my short game massively.

No bulls@~t and no overkill on technique - just a very plain and simple guide to putting, chipping and bunker shots by somebody who does it so very well. Because it was Phil Mickleson it gave me enourmous confidence to try the ideas in the video!

I took my findings to the practice ground and I have to say with a little knowledge, practice and more importantly confidence that you know how to hit the shot correctly, bunker shots become an enjoyable part of your practice routine!

I now no longer fear bunkers and in a weird sort of way enjoy it when I have to play out - the buzz you get when you hit it right and put it right next to the pin and your playing partner cant't believe his eyes is great!

Good luck and hope this helps.
