Your weekend Comp 22/23 June - How did it go

Halfway house is open when there are qualifying comps on at ours as HimID got a bacon butty and brew from it on Saturday. In fact if memory serves me right from when daughters worked at the club it's often the only time it's open.

Knocked out of the 4BBB comp on Friday evening and rounded that off with a splendid 24 points on Sunday.... I currently have no idea where the ball is likely to go.

It was our captains day on Saturday so just a bit of fun playing from some ladies tees as well. Amazing how different the course can be from changing a couple of tee boxes. Really enjoyed the day and played some decent golf for a change finished with 34 points. Winner had 41 so a mid table finish for me.

No golf for me this weekend. It was the finals of our Club Championships and I was knocked out on Tuesday. Looking out at the weather on Sunday, I was secretly quite pleased not to have made it to the final. Weather was brutal.

captains day for us the course was in tip top condition my golf appalling! recorded the worst points score i can remember with a thrid of the points coming on 2 holes! :(

I know it's not the same 'fun' but you can always submit qualifying cards at any time if it's handicap adjustments you are after? But agree - qualifying comps are quite a different kettle of fish than just submittiung a Q-card.

I did a supp last week and shot -9 for a 3.3 cut, not quite the same as winning a comp and all the spoils that go with it.

Played in our extra stableford and it wasn't looking too pretty with 8pts after 8 holes. I'd made three good up and downs for a point and the wind and intermittent rain made things tough. Then everything just clicked into gear and I played the next 10 holes +5 gross for 27pts, made buffer and finished 9th. Couple of birdies made things even sweeter :)

I had an N/R but got cut 0.1, I lost 3 balls on the 12th hole :o. Other than that disaster I played pretty solid golf again hitting 13 greens in regulation. I had 14 pars, 2 bogeys & a double from my ball being completely buried in a bunker. I had 33 putts through the 17 holes I completed so more than likely I would've had 35 putts which is far too many again. That would be 39,35,35 putts in my last 3 outings and I've been cut 0.1 over those 3 rounds. I missed a 4 foot putt for birdie on 18 by leaving it short, it's very frustrating at the moment but I can't find the time to practice.

Played in a matchplay knockout on Saturday, got to 3 up at half way and proceeded to give them back by 15, only to recover and finally win on the 18th. Only one shot between us and I made no use of it by losing the drive on the hole it counted.... Shot 1 over handicap and am now into the semi-finals.

Played a family match yesterday, me and HID vs the boy and his uncle. Away at Chiltern Forest, first time to play, very, very, very hilly, oxygen masks required to get up some of the hills, on an extremely windy afternoon. Me and HID won that one too, best two nets and best gross. 4 over handicap on a quite tricky unknown course in heavy wind, very pleased with the round.

A good weekend in all :-)

Nothing, its all about discontinuance of play apparently where you are discontinuing play to take refreshments. There are a few members well miffed about the limited amount of qualifiers we have only then to shoot an excellent score on one of these days but they won't count it as a qualifier because we all stop to have a drink and burger. There is no delay to anyone behind because they ALL do the same!

I can see me moving next season which will be a shame as its a good track and social craic.

Fish, our course has a half way house. You can get a sandwich/drink and continue on and comps are still Qualifiers!! You should have another word or send a letter to the R&A.

Likewise .. Ive played in opens & scratch cups with half way houses , all counted as qualifiers .. i know coz most got me .1 :(

As the title says, how did it go?

Another could have should have for me, a bit like Wednesday night was. Net 72 buffer for me which is a but frustrating. 7 pars 1 birdie and 10 holes at 17 over. Wednesday saw me needing a par on the last which is a nice downhill par three to get a 0.6 cut, cue the double bogey for buffer  Had 10 pars on Wednesday and 8 holes at 17 over inc a 9 with adjustment to a 7 for HC.

Won my matchplay tie today so round 4 for me now.

Well played mate, keep it going and you will get over the line......your handicap will be tumbling this year !!! I Came 5th in our medal with a gross 79 (nett 69), first time I have broken 80 off the back pegs with a card in hand. The wind was brutal and the rough was up so was really pleased. Couple of double bogeys from nowhere too !!! Naturally, im away the next two weekends and any decent form will have dissapeared when I get back !!

Well played Robin. I feel your pain re qualifiers. i believe we should have more. I think I will get to play in 10 maximum this year.

Played in a 4BBB strokeplay on Sunday to qualify for the knock out stages later on.

Paired with a 20 handicapper and me off 24 - then found it was limited to 18 handicap and 3/4 so we played off 14!

Birdied the first and ended up shooting net level par in windy conditions.

Just waiting on the results coming through to see if we qualify or not.

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd post and update here:

Just had checked on Master Scoreboard, came second in the monthly medal and even managed lowest gross with a 79 in rank conditions.

CSS did me a favor and stayed at par so I get a 0.9 reduction :whoo:

Nice one mate , i love winning the gross , best golfer on the day .. nice cut aswell, congrats

After shooting net level par last week (with my new h/c)i was well up for Saturday! Cue a 9 over net and +1 back. Can't really put my finger on it. I drove the ball ok on some holes and not others, made a few good putts, hit some good and some terrible irons... All in all back to the range this week and one to forget....

New to all of this, so thought this was a good place to start.

We had our Open major this weekend gone, another comp where I go to bed on a Friday night dreaming of good shots I'm going to play, and then go to sleep on Friday having nightmares of the shots I did play. Shot 5 over net and felt like I played quite well, but having to hack out from under tree's always wastes shots on Par 4's. Still, I'll give it a go again next week

Played in our 4 man team 5 club(each)QE2 comp.on Sat.My 1st comp and 18 holes for a year due to a bit of illness.Could'nt wait to get on the tee, dreaming all week about it.Anyway between the 4 of us,we won the thing by a couple of shots with a nett 52.4(handicap was 9.6)
What a start back, put all the pills/potions/chemicals and treatments into perspective when you're out with the mates and to win(prize is a 4ball at turnberry)is just sublime.
Guys in the clubhouse were giving lots of good hearted grief...practising too much when off/had my handicap not lapsed/was I still a member etc.etc!really pushed my luck and bought 3 lucky dips on the lottery...won sod all-not one number!!!
