Your questions wanted for Titleist's golf ball experts

Have your R&D dept been motivated to try and get to the next level with their ideas with other companies now releasing different materials in their golf ball assembly. I.E Nike using RZN in their core?

Morning all
lots of great questions here that underline the forum's genuine interest in and knowledge of golf equipment and desire to learn even more. Keep them coming!

Could you please end the argument about whether the temperature affects the ball performance. There appears to be various views as to the effect the cold has both on compression and performance. Is it possible to put a measure on the effect temperature has? Should we warm our balls up on a cold day?

Not a question, just a reply to this.

I'm sure I read somewhere that to affect performance a golf ball would need to be subjected to the cold for 10 hours, so if you keep your clubs in the car all the time it might have an effect but not if you keep them in the house then only take them out when you're playing.

Just thinking about it logically, when the ball is affected it must be because a colder core takes more force to compress it than at normal temperatures. Squash players (or at least they used to) warm the ball up before playing, a football is harder to kick when it's cold, etc.

Are you held back by the fact that the average golfers expects a ball to last until he or she loses it. Could you produce a better performing ball (especially in relation to spin and short game performance) if it was only expected to last for 18 holes max. Are the balls used by pros different based on the fact that they will only be used for a few holes.

Thanks everyone for your contributions. Will be picking a selection from here, Facebook and Twitter to ask the Titleist team at tomorrow's launch - look out for the replies soon.

"Cold, very cold, links golf. Ken Brown used to soak his balls in warm water for half an hour before playing. That did the trick."

As Titleist balls are more popular (common) on most courses have they thought about adding some markings to the ball other than 1/2/3/4 etc.

You could for example have .1 or 1. and the . could be . or .

Its just that it is one of the reasone i tend to use other manufactueres, whenever you find 'your' ball and check it tis always Titlesit so closer inspection needed and lots of club golfers dont bother to put a mark on them.

Not a question, but a statement. I'm just back from Florida where I tried the Titleist Velocity and I must say it is a fantastic ball. I bought a dozen for $26.99 (£17) and wish I had bought more. I will certainly be changing when they are available here in the UK.

Srixon have recently supplied there premium ball the Z star in yellow. I know you supply most of your balls in yellow but never the pro v range is it possible or something you might do in the future. Also why do you put all the same number in a sleeve of ball. I know a lot of people mark there golf ball but I if I hit a v1x with a dot O.B I would then reload using v1x with same number and marking could you not put a 1 2 3 in a sleeve. Thanks

I noticed that just before I went to send it. But left it on computer and I guess my daughter sent it on my behalf. She's only 2 but already can operate my iPhone and computer.
