Your final songs/tunes

No music, they’re not at a pub or some weird impromptu concert. The world would be no worse off if 92.8% of all music ever made had never been written/played (actual stat)

If someone wants to listen to music at my funeral they can pop their headphones on while the officiant tells the rest how I became 2019 Club Matchplay Champion last month (I don’t like to talk about it)

My dad entered the church to Smoke on the Water which is the tune that the Leicester Tigers run out to. He left the church to the theme from the magnificent seven. Always thought that was a good combo with Nimrod as the somber piece in the middle.

I on the other hand would go with scare Away the Dark by Passenger and probably Times Like These by the Foo Fighters.

Dunno - but off top of head I'd be really, really boring and say Psalms 121 (sang at our wedding; favourite of my parents, and spiritually very uplifting if you have the ears to listen :) ) and Fear a Bhata (here sung by Karen Matheson and Capercaille)...

But for secular purposes I'd maybe pass on Psalm 121 and instead chuck in Dougie Maclean

Fear a Bhata is for my Hebridean roots and Dougie Maclean for my Perthshire roots - and my deep love for both parts of Scotland - IMO some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.

I now love the tunes and songs of Korean. Especially their solemn songs.

Interestingly my father (a native Scots gaelic speaker) heard Korean music and thought it sounded very much like Scottish Gaelic/Hebridean music. He was right - because both Hebridean and Korean music are - like many folk traditions - based upon the pentatonic scale as can be played on the black keys of a piano keyboard.

I'm very much hoping there will be another 60 year's worth of music to choose from for mine so I'm not deciding just yet.

Sixty years? I'm hoping for a sixth of that , and I wouldn't bet on it being that long😀

What will I choose? Music from soundtrack of "Contact" and Last of the Summer wine.

Is that anything to do with strangling cats.

I have said I want to be cremated and as the coffin goes through the curtains to the furnace I want

Pink Floyd -Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun

Memories of the first Floyd Track my wife listened to (via headphones) and her reactions.

When it comes to classical I am another lover of Barbers Adagio for strings but maybe it is a bit too melancholic.

All those choosing music, bear in mind those songs will be forever linked to sadness for everyone else. There are a few songs now that trigger me to tears purely because some beggar had them played at their funeral.

I've told my wife I don't want a funeral, hateful things, so no music for me.

Not necessarily; adopt the "don't mourn for what you've lost, be happy for what you had" mantra and the song can equally bring back happy memories. (y)
