Yes, PB, Get in their....sub 80..

Your on fire!! Great shooting, 4 birdies is awesome! Congrats! Try not to get cut before Wednesday!

Good shooting, breaking 80 is a big deal and a big step to better things. However, and please don’t take this the wrong way, but if I was you, my next goal would be doing it in medal play. Off the back tees, not in match play, or pairs, or off the yellows, a bounce game, whatever.............but the full monty.
In that situation you will feel you’ve achieved much more than you have just now.
Go get it.

I understand what your saying.

We were off the back white tee's, and they were well back also, further than some recent medal days, I can't remember the last time I ever played off the yellows! The greens were very hard and fast so it was very tough also for approach shots into them. There was a lot of pressure on me also due to the opposition I was playing who were both Cat1's and extremely good players and hitting their drives well over 300yds.

I felt even more pressure on the back 9 when Dean, the 2 handicapper, said to me that he had just scored 2 under gross on the turn and if I had been just playing him, I'd be 4 up! But I kept my head and still got some good pars and further birdie opportunities on the back but didn't take them, so there's more in the tank ;)

So, all-in-all, I do still feel I achieved a hell of a lot as it told me the game is their off the whites and under pressure but I understand the medal scenario and the need to do it on those days also.

Nope, full props to you, it was real and off the whites and all that good stuff. The real deal you should feel proud (as you do!)

Sounds like you handled yourself well out there Robin, do you think the move from the Ping shovels to Mizuno has helped your game.

Very much so Sam.

The look at address is so refreshing and clean, it has made me concentrate more and as such I strike the ball much more cleanly and can't remember fatting a shot since having them. I won't put the G20's down but quite simply, they obviously didn't suit me and my MP-52's, courtesy of Moff, are paying dividends.

The Futures Blue, the Futures Mizuno ;)

Thank you to everyone for all your acknowledgements, its appreciated.

I've put the work in, and will continue to do so, and as they say, you only get out what you put in

Got to get my head straight and back to earth now for my semi-final singles knock-out this afternoon ;)

Did you get the 12 by taking the round score of 79 minus existing h/cap 19 = 60 and then 72 (SSS) - 60 = 12?

Yes sir that works. The course is a par 71 so would actually if been a 3.3 cut but I think you get the idea now

what a round fish ! top marks. I tell you what, its not so easy scoring these days with the greens being so firm. well impressed!

never mind the mizunos, I know its the adams thingys doing the business.

I think playing the links courses over the winter and early season has helped a lot as after seeing a few balls ping off the greens or run off the back of them, I played the course like a links approach and rolled on and up to the holes playing to the front fringes.

The Adams haven't been out in a competition yet, I'm working with them at the range still so only carrying 12 clubs!

that links experience is well paying off then. that really is the way to approach the greens at the minute.

as far as leaving them adams out of the bag. you sir, have the patience of a saint. no matter what club I buy, if its new and shiney, it goes straight into the bag. ill even use it when I probably shouldn't in the early days. lol
