Has anyone used them, what are they like, anybody fitted kitchens for them? Customer service, price and after sales?

I'm looking around at the moment and seen and heard some of what they do. I drove past one of their showrooms today and popped in for a look. Well, to be honest I could not believe how fantastic their showroom is! I mean everything you could ever need for a kitchen. Amazing displays of fully fitted kitchens on 2 floors, an extensive range of built in ovens, displays of doors, sinks, worktops, taps, in fact if you cant find what you need here, well................

Of course I didn't look at prices at this stage - could be a stumbling block

It's all been so well thought out and cleverly designed. Makes B&Q look totally ordinary especially when they didn't even have a double oven on display that we wanted.

Anyway, feedback from the great Forum would be much appreciated.

Looked at Wren online and Mrs Fragger wasn't overwhelmed with the designs available .
we had a new one from Howdens with a recommended local fitter and no problems at all.

Dont get me started on Bathstore

BIM is quite right about our Ween kitchen. We bought one and so did my son and his wife.

We spent ages sorting the design and whilst ok, I wouldn't trust their designers not to screw up on the cad design. We ended up with exactly what we wanted but we did have to keep an eye on them and once or twice had to get pushy to get things sorted

I really squeezed them on price and we sourced all our white goods ourselves (mainly AOL) but only told them once they priced the kitchen keenly. They made a few mistakes and at one time with me, and my son, they tried the "you signed the contract" stance but we did both get sorted by telling them that we didn't sign the contract to exonerate them from their designers errors.

However, the kitchen is good quality, and as I had a brilliant fitter that I employed, HID and i are very pleased with the result.

If i can add anything more Chris, or you deliver to Ashford, and would like to see the quality don't hesitate to shout.

Surely looking online isn't as good as actually looking in a showroom? Also you can design whatever you want with the extensive ranges on offer.

Thanks Chris, might take you up on that and will bear in mind the above points you made.

A couple of years ago I’d put a deposit down with them but after a look online at the reviews and after sales service I cancelled straight away.

A friend went with them at the same time and to be fair apart from a unit not been right he didn’t have much bother with them, but I do remember him having a load of phone calls to get his problem sorted. Luckily he was fitting it himself so didn’t have anyone waiting round on pay for him.

Their show rooms are impressive but I felt the young lad who designed our kitchen did it in a way to use the most units possible by using really small base units. I definitely felt they pressured me on their sales and with the constant discounts that they stack up and also not sure if they still do but at the time offered a well beat any quote I stupidly left a deposit.

If you do find a kitchen you like with wren they have a trade division called joinery depot in hull. These do the same kitchens but wren will say they aren’t so you can’t price match them but in reality the joinery depot manager told me they were and how he’s constantly complaining that their sales guys are saying this in an effort to get commission. In the end I managed to use this as a way to get my deposit back in truth I think they just wanted me out their shop so gave in.

I’d strongly recommend howdens kitchen, they don’t have the fancy show rooms but for price and quality they seem good. They also have a genuine sale once a year around October time a think so if you can wait till then it’s a good time to buy.

We had ours from Wickes, and have no complaints. All i would advise us to get quotes from the big players (Howdens ,Wickes, Wren etc) and then play them all off to get the best price.

I love a relevant OOB topic!Kitchen is the last room to do in our house, have had a quote from Magnet and Wickes so far. We have an appointment with Wren tomorrow morning. Popped into the showroom in the week and it was very well laid out. On a slightly different topic, are there any interior designers/architects on here? Looking at the option of an extension and have a few questions.

Just about to go through this process as well.

Looking at Howden with one builder and Benchmarx with the other. As I understand it, there are massive discounts available to the builder (I was told up to about 70% on Howden - haven't yet heard about Benchmarx). The guys I'm talking to are (reasonably) happy for me to settle the bill for the units on their account. This might mean a little more on their charge for doing the work but should reduce the overall cost significantly. Also, buying through, and involving, the builder puts the onus on him to ensure that everything is as it should be.

Although both builders have accounts with both Howden and Benchmarx, each has their favourite. Neither seemed keen to push for Wren. Maybe that's just from their experience ??????

Our Kari got a wren kitchen installed Chris, very good quality shop gave a computerised image of kitchen and it came ready made so fast installation for the builder.

They got a big discount on the first price quoted so I would haggle a bit also they brought their white goods separate as they got a better price.

If you are getting a new cooker I would highly recommend a steam oven , I'm getting one on the boat and i wouldn't get any other kind of cooker nowadays.

Originally we were getting ours from a local company. A kitchen specialist. I use the term specialist very loosely. They were crap. When i saw the mark up on White goods i knew they were having my pants down.
Now it will be more work for you but if you have an independant kitchen fitter installing the kitchen including appliances. Look online and buy them yourself. You will save a small fortune. Or get better appliances. We have Neff and they are excellent
For me. The talk had all been about kitchens and white appliances. But and this us a massive but. Have granite worktops fitted if you can afford them. They will finish off your kitchen lovely.
Out units were from Magnet and they are excellent.
Finally. The kitchen where ever you get it from will look excellent. However how will it look in 10 years. By that i mean wood and white door units are timeless. But fashioanble looking coloured units this year may look dated in 5 yr never mind 10. Yup you can change doors but will you want that hassle and expense in the near future.
PS. Your house/ Kitchen is gonna be a tip for the best part if a month.
Good luck 😁👍
