Driver please, now whats this fairway thing you talk of?
And that’s been proven to be completely wrong. Just ask MolinariPutter every time for me.
I care more about my score rather than how I made it.
As they show say drive for show putt for dough
And spieth. And that’s been proven to be completely wrong. Just ask Molinari
Not long until he’s out of the top50 in the world and I resurrect the threads about who is better, Spieth or RoryConfirmed fanboy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Putter. I'm happy with my driving. I'm hitting 70% of fairways, and those that miss are almost always a small miss, a couple of yards off. I'm hitting around 60% greens but the stats website I use tells me my putting is that of a 22 h'capper. And of those greens I miss, my chipping isn't great but I'm getting it close enough to save par but... I'll take the 10ft hole outs every time.
Miss the centre of the fairway by 15yds and you'll still be fine. Miss the centre of the hole by 3 inches and its another shot added to the score.
What's happened Brian?
You were a putting God, if you're not using one then get yourself an old blade putter and learn to putt properly again.
This is where stats can lie.I think its because I'm hitting a lot more greens in regulation, hence more putts from a longer distance. My gross scoring average, 77.5, isn't far off what its been for the last xx years but I'm not taking enough advantage of my GIR's.
Best advice I have had for a while was.
“ You can’t play good golf from in the treesâ€
But there are no trees on the greens.
So it’s Driver for me .
I score better from on the fairways ,hitting good drives boosts confidence and that goes through your game..
People aren’t grabbing the fact you still need to hit an approach. So you might stripe them all 20yrds further than your normal one, you still have to make the most of those extra 20yrds.
I know strokes gained off the tee is massive, but that doesn’t win tournaments. It’s usually in a combination with another “strokes gainedâ€, normally approach or putting.
I would love to test this, place a ball at your best drive and play out 10 times vs a hole played from the tee upto 10ft.
At our level IMO the 10ft gimmies would be better odds
If you can take out a few hack outs from under trees or fairway bunker shots etc it’d help no endI bet if people sat down and looked back on a round and picked one shot that caused them a bogey on that hole it will be because of the drive more than 50% of the time.
what about lee westwood?Hasn't it already been shown that statically driver every time leads to better strokes gained.
Edit to add: It's all the long straight drivers that are top of the money lists over the putters on the strokes gained.
