Right the question... Yesterday I was playing in a stableford comp and missed a 15-20 cm putt by trying to one hand tap it in. Now my playing partner had his back turned and wouldn't have known otherwise as he would never of expected me to miss it. Anyway I called it as I hate cheating and would hate a false HCP cut. It was on the 10th hole and was after shooting 21 points on the front and to be honest it knocked the stuffing out of me. Now a lot of people I have spoken to have said like hell would they call it which gives me even less faith in the amateur game than I already had.

The poll is private so be honest, would you have called it?

Definitely call it. Guarantee you won't do it one handed again. Only cheating yourself. Can't believe people that wouldn't.

so youre asking whether once youd missed a putt in a competition you shouldve said you holed it because no one saw you miss? i count how many shots i play so of course i would count it, find it hard to believe otherwise too

Nope I will not be one handing again, I also had a nice 10min sit on the bench next to the offending hole (Slow round) which allowed me to build up even more frustration and then realised I was about to hit my tee shot on the 180 yard par 3 which I don't get a shot on!!!

Yep and you would be surprised at how many said no and some of them very good players. I never play comps to win them as there are too many cheats in this game. I play to lower my HCP and that's it.

Spooky!!

I called an air shot tap in from less than an inch yesterday. The putter totally cleared the top of the ball...

It would never occur to me to do anything else but call it.

I also had a N/R in a medal a month back and the .1 wasn't applied to my HCP, when I went into the office to ask for it yesterday they called me every bandit under the sun LOL

I played a medal with the club captain and he did exactly that. fortunately he called it right away, I wasn't enjoying the prospect of telling him!

I absolutely would call it in a comp. anyone that doesn't is a cheat and deserves and criticism that comes with it.

Sorry Dave but this is a shocking question.
You might as well have the title "whos a cheat".

Not really its a private poll and no one would know who the cheat is. I have asked the question to people face to face today and I've had a few No's and we have had 2 on the poll already. Not good but fair play for the honesty.

Having caught a cheat in the past I know its out there.
Shocking really.
I do disagree with your point fair play for honesty.
For me its "shame on you".

I can't even believe the question has to be asked!

Why? Plenty out there who would not have called it. Should also point out that some on here may answer differently to how they would answer in the clubhouse with their mates. Do you really believe that there are no cheats in the world???

For avoidance of doubt, I would have called it. I called a double hit on myself in a comp earlier in the year. No one within 80 yards of me...

Oooo... Two "no" votes on the poll... Would love some comments from them.
