Gutted for Lynsey Sharp today.
I was really hoping she could get in amongst the medals in the 800m. It just wasn't to be this time. :(

Hopefully she takes something from it and kicks on with Rio in mind.

Can he really be classed as "our" greatest? Lets be honest. The lad's good. Very good. But he's also born in Mogadishu, spent a bit of time here and now lives and trains outside of the UK.

Very good point. Very good athlete but hard to take him as "one of ours". Not in the same league as Gebrselassie as the one of the all time best but getting there.

Haile was a different class to most modern distance runners and raised the bar for that ilk. Personally I could never see how anyone could run past 201 metres. Anything more than that was just painful.

His father is British and he himself is a naturalised British citizen (moved here at 8 or 9 yrs old I believe).

He never came here at the age of 20 something with the sole intention of competing for the UK and depriving a UK athlete of a place in the team as he wasn't good enough for another country.

Yes. He's one of our own.

Wonder what you think of your rugby/cricket team members?

I don't mind what name people take, mans, womans, merger of the two, an entirely new one but just make it one name, not double barreled. (good for you though)

An easy statement to make until you're actually faced with having to make this decision. I've never been a fan of double barrelling but am considering it.....

It'd be nice to use the same name but can't see which one should adopt the other's surname. Making up something entirely new is a bit ridiculous so double-barrelling starts to make sense.

Only problem we have is our surnames don't exactly lend themselves to it.....

Yes he is British and he is one of our greatest ever - he is also one of the greatest middle distance runners ever and just achieved something neither Bekele and Gebraselassie did with the triple double and his medal haul shows how he will be rated as one of the greatest. Brilliant just brilliant

I was faced with it, rejected it instantly. Never going to be an issue. Fight it. Come up with a new surname if necessary, just don't go double.

I thought so.

Felt we competed well where we had a chance, men's relay aside. Problems with the changeover seems to be an issue there.
Great to see Jess back to her best and Mo was outstanding again. KJT should have learned something that she can use to her advantage as well.
I'm pretty sure we'll see Lynsey Sharp improving even more for Rio as well (confident she can get in amongst the medals).

Lots of positives to take forward to Rio I reckon. Good to see.

Indeed.

Missed the games today, but still good to see (if that makes sense).

Just a pity they couldn't get the changeover in the 100m, I felt there was a bronze medal for the taking there, silver at a push with a bit of luck.
