Just watched the Champs Blue Riband event the men’s 100m

So first thing - the guy who won has missed three tests yet was “ignored” - second was the ever present drug cheat Gatlin - US sprinters tainting the sport imo

There has clearly been a lot of money ploughed into the Champs - lots of gimmicks and light shows

Looking from a distance lots of colours in the stands - yet go closer and it’s the seat colours - the stadium is empty , it’s the biggest event in Athletics after the Olympics and no one is there to watch it

Is this a precursor to how other events in Qatar are going to be - empty

3 strikes in the whereabout system doesn’t mean he wasn’t there3 times, only that he got caught 3 times. What are the chances that he was only awol when they discovered it?

Who in their right minds would agree to hold any major sporting event in a place that is scorchio at night and with very high humidity levels.?

Answer:- nobody

Some serious dosh in brown envelopes has changed hands and it stinks,

There needs to be an investigation and the World Cup needs to be moved to a different location .

Utter scandal

Don't recall the same fuss and allegations being made when Mexico was twice awarded the World Cup.

Athletics events have been held in Qatar for a few years now, again without complaint.

BTW humidity levels there are not high at present.

Humidity levels currently around 50% with Temps at 44 degrees - they have to run the marathon at midnight but it’s still 30 plus degrees with half the field pulling out - nice of you to say they aren’t high , tell that to the athletes

In June the average temp in Mexico is around 30 degrees - Mexico was also given the 86 World Cup last minute due to Columbia issues

They do have a Diamond league event - one night With no marathon etc and the temps a lot lower at the beginning of May

Humidity level currently 41%, temperature 39degrees.

And the average temperature in Qatar during the period that the WC will be held is lower than it was in Mexico, USA, Jpan and Germany.

Maybe the athletics should have been held later in the year.

Humidity levels when they are running late at night are hitting 70 odd percent with it feeling around 39 degrees - great weather for outdoor activities

And yes the climate in December in Qatar is around 20’s - such a shame that’s the time the regular football season happens all over the world - another reason why Qatar should not have been awarded the World Cup - it’s not fit for purpose and based purely on bribes and money

And obviously, based upon your previous record, you can prove that bribes were paid.

In any event similar accusations can and have been levelled at the awarding process for most of the World Cup tournaments since, and including, USA '94.

As for the timing I still believe that is just the first step towards a global football season coinciding with the Northern hemisphere summer. This has been an aim for some in FIFA for a while now.

After all who, other than Europe plays in December. Certainly football is not worldwide at that time

There is a bribery investigation going on right now

FIFA reputation has been shot - they won’t be able to force the leagues especially European which have the biggest worldwide appeal to change their season and it certainly won’t happen with the premier league

An investigation is just that, an investigation, it is not proof.

And can you tell me why the Western European Leagues including the EPL would be philosophically opposed to a switch?

Many that actually attend matches might prefer to do so when the weather is likely to be better. Of course it may not be an issue for the MotD supporters.

Plus it avoids the necessity of having to release players for the ACoN

ACoN is looking to move to the summer so align with all the main leagues.

And you really think football fans want to move it to the summer ? You also then have the issue of clashing with summer sports and games , and what sport do people then start to watch in the winter ? What happens to major football tournaments that are hosted in Europe - played over winter ?
