Gatlin bottled it but I'll take it ☺☺ And if he didn't get him over 100m he'll never get him over 200m.

Well done Usain. Thought Gatlin tied up badly and maybe the pressure told in the end. Only just did it. Shame for Katarina Johnson-Thompson and hope she'll come back bigger and better for the set back. Great to see Ennis come back to the top of the world

I wont be betting on anyone as I'm not a betting man.

Although Gatlin has had the fastest time this year, he hasn't faced Bolt yet.

And Bolt is always the big game player and knows how to win Gold!

I will certainly be watching the final.

I don't want to say I told you so

I'm much happier that the good won over the bad - what a result for the world of Athletics!

Enjoyed watching Bolt win, how could you not. I keep telling my kids, enjoy this man he is a genuine athletics legend.

Worst aspect, hearing the BBC tv and radio experts telling me how "brave and courageous" Katarina doo dah was in actually taking part in the 800m part of the heptathlon, after hearing a pile of excuses for why she was in this position. I thought this was her job, she is a professional athlete, funded by UK athletics. How on earth does bravery come into it. I know she had a mare, I know she made a cock up but man up, get on with your job. Different words were required, bravery and courage were definitely not the ones to use.

Good luck to the girl in the long jump, good luck in her next heptathlon but lets stop mollycoddling and finding excuses. Sportsmen have mares all the time, it goes with the territory.

We moan on here about golfing commentators or experts but Denise Lewis can beat anyone by a long long way on a scale of awfulness. Top marks for Michael Johnson though, doesn't pull his punches, doesn't look to grandstand. He just gives it straight but with total authority.

I agree 100% and saves me typing all of that :) KTJ does require more typing though - she stuffed up big style and then ran the 800m with her face tripping her...get a grip and move on. More importantly learn from such a huge mistake which was clearly plain daft!

She basically got an offer from in the studio from Daley Thompson to help her and mentor her going forward as she made some basic errors in "competition management" , hope for her sake her coach isnt too precious and she takes the wisdom available to her

She needs his help as she almost managed a no score in the high jump too. Just don't understand why she didn't get a safe 1st jump in for both disciplines and then go for it...

her run up and approach in the high jump was horrific, she got herself out of jail with natural ability and some guts but she could clearly be so much better than she is currently showing

Agreed. Unreal when she hit her head on the upright!

It's going to be hard on her after all that training to throw it away on one event like that

Can understand her disappointment and help from Daley would be superb for her - hopefully she will get over it and can see her being a real star in the future

Agree on Denise Lewis - so annoying

Well im glad someones come out and said just how it is.

Most British atheletes that have basically bottled it or are actually not good enough when interviewed afterwards by Phil Jones are actually saying wait till next year, these are actually atheletes that we have been waiting 4 years already.
Uk atheletics need to stop funding these no hopers and im not talking about KJT here more like the people in the 100,400 and 800 metres and that the pole vaulters.
And did you see the Hammer thrower do a great throw in the qualifying completely mess up the final and showed no emotion what so ever.

I also see Greg Rutherford has had a pop at Micheal Johnson and Daley Thompson this morning for the things they allegedly suggested about KJT coach.

Have you been watching BBC coverage today and there interviews with Adam Gemili and Toni Minichello this morning total carnage TV both cut off whilst answering a question.

Amateurish presenting.

If the athletes aren't funded then we won't ever have a chance of bringing the guys through.

They all have targets to reach to continue the funding

I know that Phil but im not talking about the up and coming who show high potential.

Look at people like Harry Aikines Aryteetay or Rooney in the 400 they are just Journeymen and wont get any faster and imo should not be funded anymore.
Just my opinion but if we set the bar low we will only get average performances.

Atheletics and swimming both need to get David Brailsford and UK cycling in to show them how to do it. High standards or you are out. Elite athletes with a chance of medals or your funding is cut. UK athletics should not be there to give people a living out of sport at journeyman level. If you are not making finals or threatening to make finals then either stand on your own two feet, fund yourself or find alternative work.

Well both are part of relay teams that have won medals and their funding will be set at that sort of level - they still compete for GB in the events until someone beats them

Rooney is captain of the men's teams currently - current European and British Champ

We have just had our most successful swimming champs for decades and recently were top of the medal table at the worlds ?! Suggest both teams are doing pretty well in recent years

There are loads of cyclists funded that don't win medals but are part of the team - same with both swimming and athletes

What you suggest wouldn't improve our chances would actually harm them by getting rid of lots of the funding for guys

Also is it based on UK or European or Olympics or World finals were the bar is set ?

UK Atheltics right now is in a good place after improved performances from increased lottery funding in recent years

Great effort by the team captain.

British and European level for some events is nowhere near world level
And once again im not talking about up and coming prospect im talking about people who have shown for years they are static or on there way down.
