Winter Olympics (for those that like them)

Try it with the volume muted.
The two over-excited commentators make it so that every run seems exactly the same. They don’t enhance it at all.

I had similar feelings watching the ice hockey earlier. Are there actually any rules or tactics? It just looks like when you watch 7-year olds playing football, but on fast forward.
Ice hockey is a far better watch in person than on TV as it’s easier to follow the puck, but rules are fairly simple.

- whoever gets the puck in the net the most times wins.
- 3 forwards/2 defenders on the ice, plus a goalie.
- the puck has to go into the offensive zone, (over the blue line) before the players.
- if you do something naughty you might get 2 mins in the penalty box, really naughty 5 mins, really really naughty and you might get kicked out the game.

You forgot the rule about having a punch up every 10 minutes 🥊

I remember watching a game at the Newcastle arena, as it was called then, many years ago. Someone would be skating down the side and a defender would just slam them into the barriers. No attempt to get the puck. I couldn't get my head around that, took the fun out of it for me. I wanted to see stick work and skill.

I'm sure there is plenty there still but it didn't make sense.

Thank you for the explanation about the puck going forwards, never understood that and not seen it explained clearly before 👍
