Playing on Saturday I scored the strangest par I have ever experienced. On the par 4 sixth I sliced my drive badly right so as to be blocked out by trees. Being a friendly game I went for the mad shot at the green over the trees but hit one face on and the ball ended up on the fairway (good) but 30 yards behind where I played my last shot. Then hit the sweetest 5 iron that I have struck and ended up less than 6 inches from the hole for a tap in par.

Anyone else parred a hole through a less than conventional route.

Our 16th is a long par 4, uphill and a slight dogleg left. During a medal earlier in the year I carved a drive so far right it was in the rough on the far side of the 17th hole - about 120 yards off course!

A quick 5 wood over some trees followed by an 8 iron to 15 feet and a dropped putt and I walked off the SI 2 hole with a par.

Easy game

par 5. hooked 2nd shot OOB. dropped a provisional and hit the 3 wood to 5 foot and made the par. :D on the same hole my playing partner also hooked his second shot OOB he dropped a provisional duffed his next then holed out from 100 yards! Two pars in the same group having both hit one OOB!!

I enjoyed this story. Kind of maddening you played your 3rd shot from further away than 2nd, but still made a 4! Nice.
Can't remember ever doing that, I must say.
I think my weirdest story scores are probably birdies....undeserved chip-ins and monster 1 putts.

Oh, actually, there is a par story.

sliced it right about 3 foot short of the bunker (at 250, probably only 230 that day). Didn't fancy the lie, decided to accidentally thin it short of the ditch but managed to bounce it over into the cabbage. Hacked it out 20 yards short of the green onto such a bare lie, I could only consider a texas wedge and holed the putt! Three terrible shots but still a par....on the S.I. 1 :o
I rightly deserved a double.

I hooked a tee shot on our par 3 13th so far that it cleared the crap and was back on the 12th. Only 60 yards left of target. Blind second. Hit the green and made 4. Not a par but anyone who has played the course will know how far off target the tee shot was and difficult the second was.

Westerham: Hit driver down the 9th, bounced once in the rough and into the pond in front of the green (290 yards away).
Got down there, dropped (correctly) and stuck a lob wedge over the pond and a deep greenside bunker to 3 foot, and holed the putt for a par!

Chartham Park: Playing the 8th, put my approach into a greenside bunker. Thinned the *rse off the ball, and it was heading about 100 yards over the green, but was low enough to hit the flag, wrap the flag around the pole, and then fall to the green and run about 4 foot. Putted for a par!

A few months ago I was playing a pairs match, I tee'd off and found water on a par 4 9th. Took a drop and shanked my 3rd into the rough 120 yds or so from the green. Holed my 4th and halved the hole.

Never had a hole in one but this felt like one!

Short par 3 island hole at Blakes G.C in Essex. Thinned my tee shot into the water

Tee'd up another ball...one bounce and straight into the hole. :D

Watched a friend of mine hook his tee shot OB on our 210yd par 3 then hole his 2nd ball for a par.

My mate Ray Taylor did this at Royal Cinque Ports one afternoon. His first shot (5 wood) was hooked into deep crap, was never going to be found. He then pulled out a 4 iron and thinned it, bounced in front of the green and rolled all the way across it (must have been a good 40 yards) and dropped for a 3.
Then at Crowborough one day we were playing the 3rd, short par 3. He fatted his tee shot into the old horseshoe bunker that used to be in front of the green. He fatted his first attempt out of the sand, thinned his second shot which would have cleared everything, green, trees behind the green etc. had it not hit the top of the bunker, shot up in the air, came down on the green bounced 3 or 4 times and dropped for par.
He is, without a shadow of doubt, the jammiest git on a golf course I have ever met.

Strangely I had 2 similarly outrageous Pars in our Medal on Sunday !

Playing with Scratch & 5 H/C'ers, I totally 'roofed' my 4 wood off the 1st, went no more than 50yds, hooked my 5iron 2nd into the rough 80yds from the green, pitched it on and holed a 20' putt for Par !

Stroke 1 10th, Par 4 452yds, -pushed my Drive onto the 11th, couldnt get over or to the green, so played down the 11th, but stuck my second under the trees, with no shot.
Played a low bump'n' run which worked a treat, finishing 6' from the pin, which I holed for Par !!

Partners even applauded as they both bogey'd, although the final round tally showed a different story !
