Why is that........

yesterday afternoon I got a call back from the course to confirm the tee-time. 2 hours later it snowed.
Everything that fell at work has thawed, just up the road - course has shut again. The ranges are all closed except for lessons - so I've booked one for this afternoon - I need a fix!

I find the weather really strange at the moment, I live 8 miles from belfast give or take and we only saw a very small scattering this week, last week it was totally normal yet just up the road in town it was absolutely covered in inches thick white stuff. I called up to work on Wednesday (saying cheerio to a lady that has worked there 30 years, I am off on paternity leave) and I nearly went on my backside a dozen times just getting out of the car and across the carpark. I couldnt believe how thick it was and nearly came to regret using my own car to go up instead of the company motor as the roads were pretty treacherous.

I went for a game yesterday, set off on a fine but moist course using winter greens, comming down the 9th the snow had become so dense I could barely make stuff out, the scoring from the point where the snow started falling pretty thickly showed up pretty clearly.PAR/PAR/PAR/PAR/BOGEY/(heavy snow)DOUBLE BOGEY/BOGEY/BOGEY/BOGEY I looked like an extra from ice staton zebra. So enjoyed a coffee and put my name down for a qualifier on 22nd in the hope the course will be green again. :( ;)

Practiced in a blizzard last night. I was ok as the wind was blowing away but once the ball had left the bay it just disappeared into a blanket of snow so no concept of distance and could only go on vague flight patterns. Still as I was working on posture it wasn't the end of the world.

Apparently my course has 13 (random I know) holes open today but it will be very wet and I just can't bring myself to hack off sodden fairways to poor greens (little work the greenstaff could have done in the last week on them) or worse still temporarys. Off to work on my short game this weekend

Homer, can you do me a favour please?
When your working on your short game, can you video yourself from face on hitting some 50 yard PW shots and then post them here. Ta

Course open today, 18 temps. Walked onto 7 of the greens, to have a look, one u/s, the others we should have been on. Hacked off tbh. Not playing tomorrow, minus 3, temps for sure.

at least the lesson was worthwhile.

New pro (to me, and at AG!) doesn't call a spade an earth removal implement, he liked some things and gave me simple fixes to work on for the ones he didn't.

Good man, I think I'll see him again.

I'll see what I can do. I was going to work on my pitch shots. My coach has changed my sey up immensly and it will the first time I have gotten onto a proper shortgame area since my lesson.

Origianlly my right shoulder was much lower at address and so even though I thought I had my weight forward I was still coming into the ball incorrectly hence my erratic fats and thins.

He has got me to align my shoulders more, weight predominatly on the left side with only a slightly open stance and my sternum (short buttons) in front of the ball and to make sure they don't move back towards the ball during the swing to promote a crisp downward strike. He wants me using my 60 and 56 predominatly from 60 yards and in and to use the clockface swings to adjust the distance with each club. Just a case of going out and finding out how far a 7.30 60 degree wedge goes compared with a 9.00 etc.

I'll try and get HID to do some face on instead of the usual down the line and get them up here probably on Sunday afternoon
