As I said. The regular weekend stablefords are off the yellows and £3.50 to enter. I’d rather play off the back tees and I’ll save the money for a coffee after the round. I don’t get any particular excitement or sense of competition from playing a stableford, or even a medal these days. Playing a strokeplay format where the winner could potentially not finish every hole feels silly to me.I don’t really understand your point of view. Stableford is a stroke play format, the only time it differs is when you have a real blow up hole, which is generally seldom. How often do you score more than a nett double bogey?
I think most people think of their score against par. If I make a 3 on a par 4, I call it a birdie not a 3 pointer.
When I play stableford I record my gross score, I let the app calculate the points at the end, with WHS I can’t be bothered to calculate the number of strokes I receive each time I play. Also I pay no attention to stroke index. Maybe that means I’m not a stableford aficionado but I still enjoy the format as much as medal.
