Why do provisional balls always go straight down the middle!

I lost all of the provisional's I hit yesterday, think it was about 6 brand new balls! Found all the first shots that the provis's were for! Bummer!

That's pretty unusual! Talking about new balls. Many years ago I was a member of a club which had a boating lake to the right of the 1st hole. One day my father and I were asked by the pro to mark a handicap card for a new member. This guy was obviously well to do, as he was wearing all the golfing designer clothes and had a very expensive tour bag filled with the latest model clubs. The premium golf ball at the time was the Dunlop 65, which came in an individual box and wrapped in black foil. On arriving on the 1st tee, he unwrapped a brand new Dunlop 65 and sliced it straight into the boating lake. Another 2 brand new 65's followed it in. At this point my father suggested that perhaps he should use an old ball for this hole. The guy replied that he had never kept a ball long enough for it to get old!

I experienced this yesterday as I restarted for the 2nd 18 holes at Cooden, my 1st 4 drives went left OOB (hooks), then all my 4 drives 3 off the tee went miles down the middle of the fairway, especially down the first when I nearly made the first bunkers

Stupid game

You've obviously cured your slice then Mr Fish. Thank you for confirming my theory! :)
