• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Why can't I wear.....

Ever tried wearing trainers and hitting a ball on wet grass btw?

No, but I play most of my golf in the dry.

I also don't like the idea of getting elf n safety involved. We'll all end up in hard hats and kevlar.

I think some of us are looking for different things from our Golf Club, and the last thing I'd want is my Club Bar resembling a Pub, and people dropping in after 'shopping with the Mrs', God forbid.

I like the fact we have dress codes, and the day that we allow Jeans & trainers anywhere near the course or Clubhouse will be the day a lot of our members look for another Club, it just wont happen.

Maybe it will/does suit some Clubs, and some of you, but I wouldnt be voting for it.

I'm with the majority here and I'm quite happy with the dress codes the way they are. If I wanted to look like a (even more so) chavy hacker then I'd put my footie top and jeans on and head for the muni. That said some like the Downshire which is council owned are actually strict (to a point) about dress code these days

I find it strange Homer that you would consider playing, dressed as a chavy hacker, Carnousie or St Andrews!

I find that disrespectful for the traditions of the game.
