Who HASN'T had a hole in one/how long?

37 years and none.

Last year I thought I had my first hole in one playing the 18th par 3 in the club championship my playing partner put his tee shot to 3 inches from the hole.

I played my tee shot...hit the pin and could not see the ball....we were jumping up and down for joy but when we got to the green my ball was directly behind and touching his ball!!!!!!!

Both got our birdies :D

One day the hole in one :) :) :)

None yet .. went close on my last course ..125yard down hill , peach of a wedge , spun back & hit the pin hard & sat in the lip at the side .. millimeters in it .. scorecard said 2 tho ha .. next door neighbour played in our school fundraised this year , borrowed shoes & clubs aced our 6th 165 yards

Only ever get holes in one in my socks. Best shot I've had is a 75yard chip in to save par and felt over the moon so I'll probably die the minute I get a HIO.

I've lipped out a few times, had one horseshoe and stay out and one plug in the lip. One day I hope one will drop.

I've holed a second shot on a par four (once). I was well chuffed! (as i'm high handicapper)why is hole in one on a par 3 get so much more glory? I don't really care though cuz it was memorable non-the-less. may never repeat it tho. Never had a hole in one, been playing 7 years.

Like many others been close but no cigar, my mate has had three i've been with him for two.

So is a hole in one more down to luck than skill?

Never had one in 30 years. Had a number of shots that sat on the lip or ended up 6 inches behind the hole, and a few hole outs with full clubs from the fairway.

I am in the same boat. I have holed several shots from the fairway but never off a tee on a par 3.

Nearest was at Hillside. Right on the lip, directly behind the hole. I waited for a minute to see if it would drop!

However I have had an albatross. 5 wood into a par 5. One bounce and in.

Nope, 3 years as a junior (two VERY close calls) and just over a year back at it now with one close call (off temp tees tho), this from Wiki:

Occasionally special events host a hole-in-one contest, backed by an insurance company who offers prize indemnification services. Actuaries at such companies have calculated the chance of an average golfer making a hole in one at approximately 12,500 to 1, and the odds of a tour professional at 2,500 to 1.

I don't like those odds, but almost every time I step up I'm aiming for the pin ;-)

Been playing 20 years now, without any joy. Rattled the pin and lipped out a few times though.

Have witnessed one whilst playing with a minor celebrity, Scottish football comentator Jock Brown. The bugger holed out at Hamilton GC a few years ago, still waiting on the drink too......
