Against my better judgement I've been trying a Callaway Razr-fit - it's pretty good. Even I can hit it pretty straight - well worth a try

Nothing comes remotely close to matching the Ping G20 - its an awesome beast.

"Which driver should I get?" usually gets more emotive and non-objective replies. I would suggest going to somewhere that will let you test a few different brands out, along with different shafts but also has an outdoor range and seeing what you get on with. Some of choosing a driver will come down to the sound it makes of the face, as well as other factors like feel in your hands, distance, etc. What works for some people doesn't work as well for others. Don't forget fleebay and the second hand ones as well.

another one for the razr fit. I had a G20 and it's a decent offering, however the razr fit is a better club for me in the standard setup.

Get the right shaft & it's way better. The beauty with something like the razr fit or titleist 910 is that you can play around with the shafts more easily either at the fitting stage or later on if you fancy it

Book an afternoon off, go to a decent shop in your area, put a big smile on your face and get them to tape up a load for you to try. If they have a fitting place, even better..... If your looking for recent releases you wont go wrong with Titleist 910/913, ping g15 or g20, amp (has a great stock shaft) R11 or R11s (you can pick up a R11 cheaper now), RBZ, callaway razor fit or x black.....
Best thing is trying them all.....

Welcome along btw.....

Get the right shaft in any offering and your onto a winner - not just a Callaway!

I did not care for the Razr fit tbh, much preffered taylormade offerings.Try a bunch out though.
Most drivers these days are pretty forgiving and promise good distance, not much bad ones out there.
Can't go wrong with G20.RBZ,RAZR FIT,don't forget Cleveland very underated.

Any driver from one of the major boys. To be honest driver preference changes from payer to player. I personally have never picked up a Ping driver that I have felt confident with or liked, but on the other hand some people love them...who am I to argue.

What you have to do is think about what your budget is, do you want a brand new driver or would a good condition second hand one do you? These would be my recommendations for new drivers for different budgets.

Up to £200:
Taylormade RBZ £199
Callaway Razr Fit £199
Cobra Amp £199

Up to £250
Titleist 910 £249
Taylormade R11s (what I use and I love it) £249
Cobra XL Encore white or black. £249

I tried all of those drivers out when I bought the R11s. I would say they all performed really well, but I ended up with the R11s after a lot of deliberation as it was not the longest, (that was the Cobra XL Encore) but the one I felt I had more control with. But I would not have regretted it if I had got any of those I have suggested.

I did try the Ping G20 (£199) and i20 (£249) but did not like them. Having said that I would love to have a go with the new Ping Anser driver (£299) I think that looks amazing.

I got those prices from Direct golf if any of them interest you. Obviously it is all my opinion and others may push you other directions. But as I have said the drivers I suggested are ones I tried out and liked.

as Nick has said the best way is to go somewhere and try some. If you're after second hand, try and find somewhere with a range and proshop that sell second hand clubs that will let you try them. There will always be good second hand clubs because some people can't resist the temptation of a new club and will trade in their perfectly good driver against it.

Also, what drivers do your playing partners use. Give them a whack and see how you get on

Go and try them out. One mans meat......

Make sure you can hit them on a range and see the flight for yourself and not just blast into a net and rely on a computer (especially an AG one). If you can find somewhere to try different shafts then happy days. Go with an open mind and enjoy the process for "The One"

If your changing from an ISI (great club in its day,i had one) any of the modern offerings will seem H U G E !! Like a tortoise on a stick :D
If your after a "new" driver, try a few and see what you get on with,if your after something 2nd hand, cheap, and very usable, have a look on that auction site for a Ping G5.You'll get a decent club for around the £50 mark,so may be worth checking if anybody you know plays one,and will let you have a smack.HTH's

I purchased a new driver this weekend and I'm also playing off 15 at the moment. I had my eye on a few Taylormades... But wanted to spend less than £225.
I tried 5 different drivers with flight scope & the best by far (for me) was the 910D2. I didn't think I would be able to afford it, but due to the new 913's having just come out... They had reduced it to £199, PLUS £20 off for buying after a flight scope session. A brand new Titleist driver for £179 isn't too bad.

I agree with all these guys though, try lots out and find the right one for you!!

Hi MattyV - Where was it that you picked up a 910 D2 for that money? I'm after one but can't seem to find it for less than £219 online and £250 in shops.

Hi CY,

I eventually got it at Silvermere in Surrey. They have a very well stocked shop & all the staff are helpful. As I said, if you have a driver fitting they take another £20 or so off. I would highly recommend them. Plus the fitting was really helpful.
Let me know if you need anymore info
