About 4 times a year to fit in with school holidays 3 of us go and play somewhere different to our home courses. This year we have played, Roxborough, Fulford & Hayling Island and are hopefully going to Celtic Manor Feb 1/2 term next year.

So looking for somewhere which is a bit special to play between xmas and new year in the Midlands within an hour of Nottingham. Ideally would like it to take 2 fore 1 vouchers or offer cheaper tee times.

Thoughts so far are

Belfry PGA
Woodhall Spa - doesn't do 2 - 4- 1
Forest of Arden
Hollinwell - doesn't do 2-4-1

Any thoughts ?

Any ideas ..

Only played FoA of those listed.

You looked at beau desert? Played it for the first time recently and was hugely impressed, lovely course.

Woodhall and Hollinwell come high recommended, if you have travelled to Fulford then also considered and extra half hour up the road to Ganton.

Belfry wouldnt be my personal choice at all (overpriced for what it is imho and a nightmare to deal with on recent evidence), wrong time of year to play Forest of Arden (can get very very wet underfoot).

At that time of year Id definitely be looking at heathland or links type courses (sand based) so that you get somewhere that drains well (which tends to make the area you are looking for difficult as the majority are on Clay).

Depending on budget Id add the Marquis at Woburn into the fray (maybe stretching the hour journey slightly)
