Reading a recent post I realised that I haven't played 36 holes in a day for over 12 years - I think it might kill me if I tried it now. :o

When did you last play 36 and how did you shape up? :D

St George's Hill about 4 weeks ago. I walked up the last fairway like Douglas Bader...

About 12 years ago when I was a teenager.

The most I ever played was 63 holes and we only left it at that because of the rain. We started before the course opened and finished in the dark & were knackered when finished but amazingly we managed it.

Don't fancy trying it now though.

Interesting question.

I recently played 36 holes with some friends on a weekend trip to Scotland. Flew up on Saturday, played 18 in the afternoon, played 36 on Sunday, played 18 on Monday - then flew back. No problem with feeling tired etc.

However, I would say the Links courses we played were "A" typical Links and although long (7,000+ yards) - were very flat and easy to walk.

I think 36 x holes on my home course, Crowborough Beacon, would kill me.

So, my suggestion for the forum discussion is 36 holes in a day is easily possible if the course allows terain allows it.

Not since a weekend in Amsterdam when I was about 22, I kept refreshed inbetween holes with a few pints of Heineken and some herbal cigarettes.

Oh sorry, I've just realised you meant in a golfing sense.....

:D

Princes about 3 months ago carrying a full complement of wet weather gear and 14 clubs. Although a flat links, that was the limit of my personal resources. Needless to say, the last few holes were more much like a test of endurance.

Last August in 36 hole open at my home track. We've a flat course so it's not too bad. Usually feel pretty zonked that evening and the feet ache a bit the next day.
Leccy trolleys help a lot in 36 hole days.

Poofters, the lot of you.
I once played the medal at my club in the south of England, teeing off at 5 in the morning. We then had breakfast and drove 30 miles to play a 36-hole county event. I'll admit that neither course was long but I broke 80 in all three rounds (just!) and my mate had 75 for all three, despite losing a ball with his first shot of the day.

In our spring meeting about 4 weeks ago. Shot 84 83, net 73 72, so 1 over handicap for 36 holes, no problems, not tired, 2 lots of buffer zone, wasted day. Free breakfast was nice though.

You woofter!!
I played in the Mary Rose Flagons with Bob Eagle a few years back, got taken to extra holes..we actually won it thanks to a birdie by moi ;) on cardiac hill (5th) and I then had to shake hands, run back to the clubhouse from there and play in a singles match straight afterwards! Luckily that one didn't go to extra holes.
;) ;)

We play 36 every year for our society Captain's Day. Last year was at Weald of Kent - an easy walk. The Ridge this year, which is even easier.

No problem with tiredness after the golf...until I have had 3 pints to top it off. Then I go downhill faster than Eddie the Eagle!

What's a buffer zone Murph?

Friday just gone actually ;)

East region works do with 4bbb in morning with 2 pairs each team , then singles in the afternoon with all 4 team members counting. Course I hadnt played before and the wind was howling and it chucked it down to start with but got out quite nice later on.

My partner was a 6 h/c lady golfer and we shot 43 pts with 5 under gross on the back 9 to take 2nd place in the morning but our team was in 1st.

Afternoon I shot 37pts (2nd individual on countback) and she shot 34. We won the team prize comfortably.

My feet ached a little later that night and my legs were a little stiff but woke up the next day and didnt feel a thing. I pulled rathered than carried/leccy trollied it too
