What's your favourite hole of golf that you've played?

Mine is the 13th at North Berwick. It looks normal enough from the tee, but once you get to your 2nd or 3rd shot you've got a tricky wee diagonal shot over an old wall to contend with. The beach is just off to the left and it's not out of bounds. The green is big enough and it's hemmed in on all sides, so even from 1ft off the edge of the green, it may be a problem to get a swing in.

It's just good fun golf as it's meant to be, imo. Love it.

Has to be the third at the Belfry on the Brabazon, a great golf hole and a true par 5, made all the better for my par on it.

Would have been the 18th but I took about a 9 :D on that so fell out of love with it somewhat

The 9th at The Forest of Arden. On the main Arden course its over 400 yards from the yellows and all uphill. Slice your drive and you're in the marsh/woods/clag. Hook it and you're in the trees. Hit a good one and you've still got 180 uphill with bunkers either side of the green.
It was the most feared hole on the European Tour when the British Masters was played there. I once played it off the back tee and parred it!!

18th on the Brabazon, probably because I played it well. Off the white tees I did as the pro told me. Left edge of the bunker with loads of draw. Left me an 8 iron in which I nailed. Scariest 2nd shot I've ever played.

Gil...

that looks one unforgiving hole!!!

Would it be frowned upon to lay up before the water guarding the green...

I cant decide between the 6th, 10th & 18th on The Brabazon.

The 6th is a truly stunning hole, get away decent from the tee and it is a true risk/reward hole as you have a long approach shot, the green is a tad tricky too!! I bogeyed it though :(

The 10th is THE most aesthetically pleasing hole i've ever played, and i par'd it. Nice tee shot, quite a daunting approach as the green is narrow if you drive too far and obviously the water which the green slopes toward.

The 18th is a wicked hole, i drove the fairway but bottled the approach shot as it was a touch too far and the green has the horrendous slope to the water. laid up and put a 5 iron to the fringe and the back, again another top drawer risk/reward hole.

I'd play The Belfry again tomorrow if i could...i miss it :( lol

Par 3 1st at Meyrick Park, 244yds over a valley.

I was petrified, hit driver and landed on the green, I was amazed. Hadn't been hitting my driver well for a couple of weeks, couldn't hit a fairway let alone green!

1st putt lipped out from 12 yds away then bagged the Par, well happy.

The round went down hill from there!

Funny....I didnt really rate the Brabazon, it just felt too manufactured and not mature enough, if thats the right term.

Far nicer holes on somewhere like Fulford in York, or even Hawkestone Park, both beautiful courses.

I would say the 4th hole on the Duke's course at Woburn. It is a par-4 that sweeps to the left up a hill.
The green is two-tier and surrounded by steep banks, making it into a small amphitheatre.

It is cut into the pine forest and is so secluded you could be a million miles from anywhere.
It is a testing and an aesthetically beautiful golf hole...

The par 3 5th at Gleneagles Kings course.
Its named Het Girdle, which translates as hot pan.

Absolutely stunning hole, as is the course.
Played it in October, a few years ago for £32.
I believe they still offer selected tee times every Otober at a similar price
Thinking about it now I need to go back.
Bargain of the century.

With the tee shot you want to take on as much of the dunes as you can, but don't be to cocky otherwise you get severly punished, to not leave a long approach shot into the completely blind green. Also this plays into the prevailing wind, which is often quite strong in these parts :)

Slugger,

It's a strange feeling on the tee, when you hit the ball over the trees on the left you have no idea how good it is.

But the hardest thing on that hole is the green - it's about 60ft long and 20 ft drop from top to bottom, with those 2 big ridges.

Not PLayed the Brabazon yet but I have many memorable holes on the PGA even though it owes me a complete decent round there. Though the 4th on the PGA takes some beating The 10th, the 14th classic risk & reward

17th at Allestree remains one of my local favorites that stands out.

Penrhos in Mid Wales has some spectacular holes but difficult to pick just one.

There is something about the 15th at Royal StDavids. Though the 13th 14th & 16th come high up the list.

No I really cannot pick just one hole that is a single favorite as it would mean I'd have to leave out so many other favorites. And favorites too that I havn't mentioned.

I watched that hole on the last day, the last time it was played there. I think there were 2 pars all day (in pretty ropey weather)

I par'd all 4 of those when i played the PGA :D :D

The 10th though has to be the ugliest regulation par i've ever had the fortune of claiming.

I aimed down the left side and fatted my tee shot, still landed in the middle of the fairway though, took out my 7 iron to lay up on the other side of the stream and "sally gunnell'd" that, 2 bounces and cleared the stream and finished about 90yds from the green on the right of the fairway, took out my wedge and thinned that too, but it pitched on the up slope of the green and that took most of the pace off it and it came to rest just on the green at the top left, 2 putts and i walked away with the dodgiest par ever :D
