As i play at a links i'll say links :D

If you go to any links courses you know it going to be a pretty good.

Though there are soo many parkland courses. All the ones i have played seem quite similar.

But if its a choice of the best links against best parkland, best heathland

I probably couldn't seperate them, a great course is a great course.

I'm playing in an open at Royal Porthcawl with 3 other forummers.

Is that really the 10th?
I remember the 10th being off a tee so elevated you could see over the trees round the dogleg.

It's a worm eye view, and it looks like it is taken from the ladies tee!! You can see over the trees on the right, but not necessarily be able to carry them.:(

I hit 4 wood for safety aiming down the middle and blocked it over the trees and found it in a nice lie. I'm very lucky on a golf course :)

Voted for links but still love to play the inland courses on links you will use every club in your bag from just about every concievable lie, but to be honest if its a nice course it could be on the moon and i would want to play it ,links parkland or heath

It looks lovely, but how many blind tee shots are there?!

From the tee there are four utterly blind shots (holes 2, 7, 9, 11), where the dunes simply rise up straight in front of you. Check out hole 11 - you're not even sure you're going to clear it. There are some other blind-ish shots - the approaches to greens on 1, 2, 3, 13 and 15 can all be very tough, and you can't see the putting surface on the very short par three 6th.

I hope that was not on the 18th fairway, as that is out of bounds.:mmm: Sounds like we may have to have a recount.

You've played links?

Awesome, you are my guru.

I've played Princes twice, played OK once, Played Hayling Island, was awesome for 4 holes then got blown away ! The best round I had on a links course was at Royal North Devon, it was a dead calm day though.

I've got a high ball flight so if the wind blows we're doomed !!!

Well, that's a shame.I love links golf but that sounds like a wee bit too much.I know the course is well quoted, but that amount of blind shots turns me off.Is Portrush the same?

Don't let that put you off...........it is well out in front as my number 1 course I have played and I have played somewhere around the 200 mark.

I played it twice over a weekend but funnily enough I don't recall those holes being 'utterly blind' in fact only 11 is utterly blind from memory, the 9th you can see where you are hitting but not where it lands, the 7th was a par 3 that was not in any way blind and the 2nd wasn't blind from the elevated tee I played from.....maybe I am imaging things or Kevin was off winter tees?? Oh and the 6th was a par 4!!
