justone - is that because you are a mahoosive driver or you were playing smaller courses? i thinking my game will suffer on the whole when i move to liverpool if i join one of the smaller courses!

Both Gary, I hit it far enough and the courses generally weren't long enough to accommodate more than driver/short iron so I never really hit a lot of 6/5/4/3 irons apart from the occasional tee shot.
As my driving has shortened I find I need to use longer approach irons nowadays.... and it's not pretty
Going in with a punchy 8-iron is so different to having a 6-iron in your hand.

big drivers can reduce courses to driver wedge at times. i played a wee course in liverpool called allerton. if i joined there i could play to a lot less then 11 but it wouldnt seem right to me. it was just so small compared to what im used to. even though was using ancient rented clubs i started hitting an iron on the tee on some holes so i could get a bit of golf rather than driver wedge!
atm on my home course i would use every club in the bag during a round. i fear this wouldnt be the case if i joined a small course.
